Dumb and Dumber To

PanthersClinic

I was able to see this film early at a movie screening via Gofobo. The movie is absolutely hilarious and reaffirms that Jim Carrey is a genius. He does great physical comedy and just when you think 'this is stupid' Carrey will do something so absurd to push you to a laughter you were holding back.

Really I think it was funnier than the first film as I thought the first film had too much plot and not enough comedy. Of course this film doesn't have the novelty of the first but the jokes are spot on.

Also it seems Jim Carrey hasn't had a decent movie in years so it also felt like seeing someone you've been missing.

The film does a good job of referencing the first. There are the random fantasies throughout the film and they bring back the gay joke.

Carrey was also hilarious on SNL recently doing an impersonation of Matthew McConaughey's Lincoln commercials. Hopefully he's back to stay. So tired of the raunchy drug and sex comedies that dominate today.

Not since that Seahawks bitch put her hands on me and nothing was even said to her

Ah gotcha.  I had a friend recommend it so finally went with my two Packer-fan amigos.  Had a successful night even though the Panthers didn't haha.

I'm definitely going on opening day to see this.

That said, I have low expectation and am going completely due to nostalgia, I absolutely LOVE the  first movie. The previews for 2 sucked.

I love the fact is had a solid plot, it made the comedy even more funny to me. You say this one lacks plot which reaffirms that I know it will suck but I love the first movie so much I have to see this one.

i decided there was no way i was watching this movie when they had that disgusting grandma thing in one of the early previews.

over the line, gagged in my seat.

I agree. That is the worst part of the movie. It was very uncomfortable to watch. I think only people working in the medical profession would appreciate a joke so distasteful.

I had the day off so I thought I would go check this movie out.  There were definitely plenty of funny parts (some hysterical) but I thought the constant recycling of old jokes from the first movie seemed lazy.  Either the writing was really bad on this one or the improv just wasn't as good as on the first one.

I saw it. Well Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels are pretty much past their prime in regards to being able to improve their way through a comedy like this and everything feel fresh and new.

I thought that most of the comedy felt forced, and didn't catch me off guard comedy wise like the first one.

All in all, I thought it was great to check in with the boys after all these years. The movie for me was more about the nastalga more than anything. My advice is to catch it when it comes out on blueray.

    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
    • There's a reason Greg Maddux was never a flamethrower but still one of the most feared pitchers of all time, because accuracy beats velocity far more often then vice versa. Once you exceed a certain minimum capability, you can thrive with extreme traits elsewhere, its not strictly about power in any sport but powerlifting.
