Let Cam Sit and Is Gettleman Safe?

Not because of anything he is doing but because of what everyone else hasn't done.

I wasnt willing to do this before, but this is pathetic, embarrassing, and shameful. To have an entire front office turn their back on your franchise QB and put him in this position is disgraceful.

He needs to sit to be protected.

In saying that, despite my feelings following many of the offseason moves Gettleman made, I still reserved final judgment because I felt the cap did greatly affect what we did. But that was then... The cap has nothing to do with him being complicit in having our franchise QB destroyed. He has literally done nothing but contribute to his demise. He has made no moves after seeing this week in and week out. Even after our QB broke his ribs and was coming off ankle surgery... He has still sat on his hands.

People can say you aren't going to find anything better out there right now, but just watch this team and try to say that with a straight face. It is arguable that half of our starting OL shouldn't even be on an NFL roster. Our WR corps is a joke. And this is what we surrounded our franchise QB with...

I didn't think it was fair even with our horrible offseason to talk about Gettleman's job security before... After watching our team do nothing for yet another week and contribute to the destruction of our franchise QB, I now think he is fair game as well. Everything that could've been done wrong, was done wrong. And once you k of you were wrong, you have to correct it. Rivera hasn't done that, Gettleman hasn't done that, and JR never does that.

Enough is enough...

That last throw he had to step up immediately to avoid getting crushed again and then launches a pass, likely underground because of an injury, but the worst part that is indicative of this shitty ass team that he is surrounded by? Cotchery, great veteran leader, mentor, and team-building, isn't even looking for the ball. LOL... JUST LOL...

this isn't about this week, it's about the rest of the season and Cam's career... Sit him to protect him.

Wide open? What are you watching? No one is ever wide open. Every defender is on the wr s hip.

The throw to Cotchery that went out of bounds? Olsen wide open in the end zone, Stewart wide open in the flat.

Olsen even let the sideline hear it when he went back.

I said it in the gameday thread. Cam has become shell shocked thanks to our inability of getting him a line ever since we drafted him. He can't even trust the line when he has time to throw which causes bad throws and bad decisions. The cap isn't even an excuse for DG. He decided to use 13 mil to tag a luxury at DE instead of getting Cam help. He decided to go into the season as it. And is still doing so. The coaches are incompetent. Shula should've been fired weeks ago. Rivera has reverted to the 2012 Rivera and first 3 games of last year before his job was on the line. The whole coaching staff needs to go. The sooner the better. DG has a lot of work to do this offseason like he should've done last. He has to prove himself to be a competent GM.

I think this season is on Gettleman.  He's done next to nothing to help his franchise QB, and the lack of talent on the OL is obvious.  A 3 man rush is consistently getting to a mobile QB, how does that happen?  And I know it's a dead horse, but could you imagine Benjamin being doubled like this if Smitty was on the roster?

People like to bash Hurney because of the contracts, but even in the lame duck year I can't remember ever being this outclassed.  And we have more talent now, but there's nothing on the line.  It's a more painful team to watch than any I can remember.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
