Quarterback Coaching

i read the OP and my first thoughts were...

hire pep as HC and christensen as OC.

then hire a former defensive minded HC to take over the defense.

 

Those are realistic possibilities.

 

Mike Nolan might be available as a DC.

What quarterback coaching? We have none...and obviously haven't had one in the last 4 years.

I'm pretty sure our coaches have a set of plays and have no intention or capability to adjust to what the defense does.

So basically we should blame the coaching staff for Cams lack of progress? NEVER!!!!

My question is about Gus Malzahn: can he develop Cam? I know he runs an innovative offense but didn't he essentially have Cam chuck the ball downfield or run it himself? I'm not opposed to Gus, but we can't put him atop our list unless we think he can make Cam better and not just look at their past and assume it translates into success in the NFL.

My thoughts are you're probably gonna get a better answer on that one by asking our resident Auburn fan, Tiger788.  He knows more about Malzahn than I do.

 

Only thing I can definitively tell you is Malzahn has no pro coaching experience at all.  He's actually only been coaching at the college level since 2006.

 

He's popular as an offensive mind, but I have to admit that resume' scares me.

Depending on how the whole San Fran situation goes, I could see Vic Fangio here again as DC with Hamilton
