We can't keep Ron Rivera or Mike Shula heading into bye week after that

Who had two shots to win it? Gano. There were very, very good reasons not to go for it.

Gano should've never had the first shot. The Panthers should've been trying to score a TD with two minutes left and the ball inside the 40.

Karma is a b!tch, and I refuse to allow IDIOTS LIKE YOU to try to take the focus on Rivera's decision-making blowing this game. They deserved to lose it for not trying to score a TD, when a TD would've probably used up all the time, and if it didn't, it would've forced Atlanta to have to score one to win.

If the Panthers stayed aggressive, they might have won with a closer FG. Instead, Rivera played for the FG as usual.

You can keep replying and proving how wrong you are.

After the first two runs I was thinking hey at least we throw it here. We would have gotten the first down and the falcons would then have to burn their last timeout and we would've kicked a short fg for the win. Shula is so goddamn stupid it makes my head hurt. If his name wasn't "Shula'" he'd be working as an insurance adjuster somewhere.

That's a very rational, coherent argument... not. The risks of going for it outweighed the benefits. The way Rivera ran it, we had a shot to take the lead and, even if that failed, if our defense held we'd still have a good 25-30 seconds or so to try again. That's about as good as you can get in that situation.

I miscommunicated that.  I meant allowing them 1 timeout with 1:24 left is not more important then icing the game.

Scoring a TD would not ice the game. Scoring a FG with 1:00 left would not ice the game. We got two shots here, which is better than in any other scenario.

No. The first two runs were to goad the Falcons into burning timeouts. The third down run was pure idiocy. We should have played for the first down at that point. No field goal is automatic, but wouldn't the chances of winning improve if it were, say a 38 yarder with 31 seconds left vs. a 46 yarder with 90 seconds left?

    • Been here a while but rarely post and most of them are smartazz. Mostly lurk just so I can sound informed while hanging out drinking beer in my neighbors garage. Amusingly a Huddle level of knowledge kind of makes you a subject matter expert. Thanks for that.
    • That’s similar as saying MVP Cam is the same as rookie Cam because his mechanics didn’t change. We’re talking about production.
    • In 2025 Sam Darnold had over 1k more passing yards than Bryce Young on 1 less pass attempt. Repeat that to yourself several times and let it sink in. I absolutely love it when people come on here and invoke Sam Darnold like some gotcha. Darnold is the physical prototype for what anyone needs in a franchise QB. All the physical tools. Few people thought he would put it all together on the mental side of the position. He used to make some of the worst decisions you would ever see. At times in the past he made up for that with absurd throws and athleticism. But make no mistake whatsoever no matter how you feel about our starting QB. Bryce Young is a completely opposite conundrum. He lacks virtually any and all physical tools and athleticism and his elite processing is really mediocre at best on a good day and horrific on a bad day. These are realities people should have already been addressing instead of quadrupling down in year four.
