Hey Dave even Zack Mettenburger has better weapons then Cam. .

WOW!!

Now do the real comparison Cam vs the garbage they have at QB. .

With a better QB their weapons would explode. .

I bet Hunter nor Wright can be covered by a LB..

You took a team whose top two receivers combined don't match the production of our number one and said "Boy, wish we had their weapons."

Solid argument there

of these two teams, Steelers are the one that have done a great job of surrounding their QB with talented, young weapons:

Steelers Receiving Yards Per Game

107.0 - WR A. Brown, age 26

77.5 - WR Byrant, age 23 - (4th R, 2014)

43.6 - WR Wheaton, age 23 - (3rd R, 2013)

13.4 - WR J. Brown, age 23 - (6th R, 2013)

-----------------

46.6 - RB Bell, age 22 - (2nd R, 2013)

43.0 - TE Miller, age 32

17.6 - WR Moore, age 31

Steelers Rushing Yards Per Game

74.7 - RB Bell, age 22 - (2nd R, 2013)

26.6 - RB Blount, age 28

not even using - RB Dri Archer, age 23 - (3rd R, 2014) - although Dri Archer is averaging 5.1 ypc with limited carries (less than 2 per game), they are having him focus on kickoff returns this season

The thing about WR receiver play is that it depends so much on good QB play. That is why some WRs have looked average in some offenses and then moved on to play better elsewhere.

If you do an apples to apples comparison, here's how it looks...

- Kendall Wright: 39 receptions, 403 yards, 4 touchdowns

- Justin Hunter: 21 receptions, 368 yards, 2 touchdowns

- Nate Washington: 19 receptions, 267 yards, 0 touchdowns

- Kelvin Benjamin: 52 receptions, 768 yards, 8 touchdowns (11 games played)

- Jerricho Cotchery: 32 receptions, 433 yards, 0 touchdowns (10 games played)

- Jason Avant: 21 receptions, 201 yards, 1 touchdown(11 games played)

So by himself, Benjamin has touchdowns than the Wright and Hunter combined, and they only lead him by 8 receptions and 3 yards in those categories.

As to the runningbacks...

- Bishop Sankey: 91 rushes, 357 yards, 11 receptions, 83 yards, 1 touchdown

- Shonn Greene: 49 rushes, 199 yards, 1 touchdown, 0 receptions, 0 touchdowns

- Jonathan Stewart: 84 rushes. 323 yards, 18 receptions, 123 yards, 2 touchdowns

- DeAngelo Williams: 56 rushes, 198 yards, 5 receptions, 44 yards, 0 touchdowns

I don't really see a clear superiority in production there.

Wasn't necessarily referring to their production versus the pieces in our offense. Both Hunter and Wright posses something neither Cotchery and Avant do: Speed. This offense is so deprived of speed outside of Philly Brown that it's almost comical at this point. We have no consistent deep threat. Would be nice to see what a couple burners could do for Cam and this offense.

Cotchery and Avant are stopgaps on short term contracts. not top draft picks.

Apples to apples, you're looking at a first and second round pick who combined don't equal what Kelvin Benjamin can do by himself.

That doesn't really impress me.

WR play doesn't depend on QB play at all. Not one bit. Their stats do, sure, but their individual play is the same whether the QB is Jimmy Clausen or Peyton Manning.
