No one ever said more TOP lead to more scoring. Theoretically, it's supposed to keep the other offense off the field so they don't score as much.

The problem with it is we chew up the clock but kick a field goal or punt and when you do that against a high-powered NFL offenses, it's just a recipe for disaster unless you field an elite defense. When you start throwing in mistakes or frequent 3 and out's because your offense has no rhythm, well you get the 2014 Carolina Panthers.

 

Rivera-ball just leaves such a razor thin margin for error because of the fact he's playing field position or for a field goal when he need to cap off a long drive with a TD.  I have no issue with ball control offense if the result is a TD, but Rivera seems to be just fine if a TD isn't the end result.

I agree. What we're doing isn't working and I don't like ultra conservative "don't fug it up" offense. I was just pointing out that more TOP is not necessarily intended to score a lot of points.

That ball control, time of possession style offense is the winning formula that the Panthers need to stick to regardless of personnel or results.

The reason we are #11 is because Shula takes 35 seconds to get the play in to Cam. Of course, you can't rush perfection.

The ball control method would work,if we could actually score in the RZ.

On top of that,when you run a system like that, its predicated to having a stout D and stopping your opponent from scoring.
