that just isn't a sound argument. just because something hasn't worked in the past doesn't mean it can't work.

we aren't blindly throwing money around here. we wouldn't be making some sort of insane, crippling investment.

i'm not even saying we should make the move. all i'm saying is it shouldn't be thrown out the window without further investigation.

you say it wouldn't be smart business, but if a team picks him up and he explodes they'll look pretty damn smart for spending a low draft pick on him. it isn't smart business to dismiss options without fair consideration.

Remember the proverbial 'definition of insanity'?

Over the past year, we've had this same discussion several times. Each time someone came on here making an impassioned argument for why so and so was worth the risk, and every time it was followed up by the guy they were arguing for being suspended again.

Blackmon was suspended at a time when he was being tested ten times a month. Yet even in the midst of that kind of scrutiny, he still made stupid choices.

And now people are right back here again...

Just give me Cooper, Coates, Kevin White,  or Dorial Green-Beckham and Justin Hardy in the 4th or 5th(hopefully) and I'll be good.

No way Justin Hardy lasts that long. He'll be gone by the mid-3rd at the latest, IMO

there isn't another picture of remmers you can get? that purple looks ugly.

i don't think einstein's definition applies here. each person is different, and although we may be talking about blackmon again, this is a different point of his life. his problem (i believe) is with alcohol. there are plenty of cases of recovered alcholics. if it were some sort of harder drug, or a different kind of "off the field" problem, then i might agree with you. but you seem to be of the belief that people can't change/recover.

I always love how people talk about forgiveness as if we were making the choice whether or not to be friends with a guy

It's a business decision people.

Throwing money and draft picks at known screw-ups isn't smart business.

How many 7th rounders stay on nfl rosters/make an impact?

How many 7th rounders have the skill set Blackmon has?

Do you not believe people can turn their lives around and change their situation?

YES!! may the "legend of drunken master" era begin in charlotte!!!

im sure if we did, it would be under a "1 strike" type of clause. 7th rounder is absolutely nothing....especially if we are picking 32nd throughout the draft.

blackmon is a very rare talent with the potential to be an all-time great, he'll definately get another shot. would be an absolute shame if he doesn't ever get his career straightened out :( ....................in charlotte :P

What is this obsession people have with giving away draft picks for other team's screw ups?

The Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders built Super Bowl winning teams this way. And when they didn't win championships they were always contending, intimidating and basically creating havoc throughout the league.

30 years ago??? Really? ? We're going to use a 30 year old model to build a team?? Not to mention the new conduct policy...

Blackmon can't even J Walk or litter and he's out of the league. .

Al Davis was a great evaluator of talent back in the day and the rules... well, there were no rules. It was a great time to be a Raider fan or player.

These days the NFL throws yellow flags for foul language on the field of play and players are under a microscope 24/7 365 days a year.

Sadly, I think Al's model would be difficult, if not impossible, to replicate in the modern era.

Yesssss he is a beast.... Compared to Dez

But this is carolina where people must be a perfect human being to be able to play on their violent head injuring body throwing team.

Looking at football hell yes. I would take him over Cotch. Him KB philly olsen brandon williams and amari cooper is a team for years to come

    • Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers know what’s on the line, but they also knew last week, too. It’ll be close; I just have trouble trusting a positive outcome after a defeating one on the road. Zietlow: Panthers 38, Bucs 35. This prediction goes against conventional wisdom, but then again, conventional wisdom doesn’t seem to apply to these Panthers. This group, after all, has yet to lose back-to-back contests since Weeks 1 and 2. I think they win this one to make Week 18 interesting — and yes, that’s even with motivated Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans in good form. Why not?
    • Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.
    • Willis was impressive last night given the circumstances. GB and SF seem to just have it figured out as far as QB goes.   It's frustrating, but I enjoy seeing our old players find success elsewhere.
