Huddle question: Do they pay Cam next year?

Unknown.

He's a franchise quarterback. I don't think anyone with a brain doubts that fact. But the teams that have thrown 100 million plus at quarterbacks haven't really seen the kind of returns they wanted.

My gut says a contract like Kaepernick and Stafford, but it's hard to say.

I like what I saw in that Saints game, and I'm not talking about his play in that game.  He took over and directed the offense.  I want the Panthers to give him that leeway all the time, and he will be better than Brady and Manning.  They should definitely lock him up this offseason in that light.

1. There are a lot of fixes this team needs to pay for. Bargain basement O-line, WRs and DBs will only go so far.

2. If you will remember, one of the biggest questions about the DG hire was how Cam is not a DG-type QB.

3. I still think it is in Cam's best interest to at least listen to offers to determine his market value because I have a suspicion the Panthers will try to low-ball him.

4. While you all speak of the franchise tag, I think it's more likely to be used on Luke...

Why on earth would we franchise Luke instead of locking him up to a long term contract while MLB salaries are relatively low?

You had me until "and he will be better than Brady and Manning".

Cam is not and never will be in the same league as Brady and Manning (and that is OK)....we are talking about two of the best to EVER play the game and have done it for years.  Cam has NOT shown that he may be the best to ever play the game.

Neither has Andrew Luck, but that doesn't stop people from comparing Luck to the greats.  I think it says something to see yourself at that level.  I'm not going to compare Newton to Dalton, I want more than what Dalton brings to the table heehee.  I want Newton to be one of the greats if not more.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone and we have Taylor Moton inked to a recent extension. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
