SI Most Disappointing - Star

He played great against the Browns.. that ankle injury is hard on a big guy like him. Star will always be underrated because he is a run stopper.. He can hang onto a blocker and shrug him off with one arm and clog the RB. Plus

DID YOU GUYS SEE HIM CHASE JOHNNY FOOTBALL out of bounds?! Luke went freaking nuts when he saw that. Star and Short will be beast here for a long time... unless they have sacks on sacks and we have to pay them then the huddle vote will say walk.

Honestly I can't disagree, Star HAS underperformed all year compared to last year.

He has been doing better as of late and he might have set the bar too high as a rookie (of course most of that success can be attributed to how complete our dline was last year).

I watched a hard breakdown on Star (as in every snap from coach film with a lineman expert commentating) from last year.  General consensus was that the guy has freakish athletic ability but a long way to go in technique and play recognition.

Star's biggest issue is he allows linemen to "reset".  What this means is that Star gets a great initial burst on the olineman, knocking him off balance, but creates enough distance in doing so that it allows the lineman enough time to get back into a proper stance to block effectively again.  Against lower talent olinemen he is able to follow up with another dominant amount of force to finish the job, but the craftier guys have methods to keep him at bay JUST long enough to allow the play to develop.

Kid has got a great future if he works at it and could become as disruptive as Ngata.
