Arizona

  • Arizona's 73 points in the final six weeks of the season are the least by any playoff team since 1936.
  • They have managed just four offensive touchdowns in the last 27 quarters (75 drives) combined.
  • They are 8-1 when gaining at least 330 yards and 3-4 when gaining fewer.
  • Their rushing average of 3.29 yards per carry is the lowest in the league and tied for the sixth-lowest by a postseason team since 1980.
  • The Cardinals were 4-4 on the road this season, allowing more points (19.9) than they scored (18.4).
  • Larry Fitzgerald's 117.5 receiving yards per game is the highest total in history.
  • Arizona's defense has held 13 of 16 opponents to 20 points or fewer. They are also the only team in the NFL to surrender at least 500 yards in four different games.
  • A testament to Arians and Bowles, no team lost more 10-game starters from 2013 to 2014 than Arizona.

Carolina

  • Carolina's defense ranked 19th in Football Outsiders' metrics in Weeks 1-9. Since Week 10, they are fifth.
  • Among defensive ends, Charles Johnson's 52 quarterback hurries are second only to J.J. Watt's 54, per Pro Football Focus.
  • Rookie pass rusher Kony Ealy has registered a sack in each of the past three games.
  • Newton has been sacked fewer times since Week 11 (8.0) than in Week 10 alone (9.0).
  • Three of Newton's four highest rushing totals of the season have come in his last three starts. He also has a rushing score in each of the past three games after managing just two in the previous 15.
  • Since 2011, only Tom Brady and Russell Wilson have more wins in December and January than Newton.
  • The Panthers could have as many as eight different starters this week than in [Week 1 - assumed as it gets cut off].

Man, those Zona stats really underscore just how much their offense has gone into the tank and how their defense is trending down. That 11-5 record really does seem like a mirage.

Their offense sucks, rain or shine. The rain does nothing but help even the playing field in their favor.

I'm a glass 1/2 full type'a guy myself. They play in Arizona, no rain EVER. We play in a Stadium that gets rained on all the time. We have veterans like TD and Keuchly who have gone on record that the defense loves playing in the rain. If those two want rain, then bring that poo on. Let's see if the Stadium renovations can hold up to another monsoon.

I'll be in the stands losing my voice, drankin a cold bur, and soaked! A W enroute to a Lombardi is all that matters.

Panthers vs Patriots, only this time we get the W and spoil Tom's story. Let's get it baby!

    • Madden has been in a bad state for well over a decade now but the best recent change they've made was making the rating distrubition harsher IMO. Whenever I try to play a MyLeague in the newer games pretty much every single one of your starters will be 85+ if you want to win a championship and you need probably 3 90+ guys. There's like zero seperation between the players on the court it seems like, someone ranked 85/99 should be a great player going off the percentage but instead that's essentially an average starter. Having a larger rating gap between the superstars and the JAGs highlights the difference in skill a lot better, whereas in 2K some team's 4th best defender can square up your 96 overall superstar thus causing the gameplay to feel rather homogenous.
    • I think, if the stars align, and the light comes on for XL and Metchie finds his way, and Brazzell's early returns are accurate--man, this team could be LOADED at WR.  Six will make it: TMac Coker XL Brazzell Metchie Tremayne Moore Horn
    • Personally, I think the Panthers would be a good place for a QB if he falls to maybe a 4th rounder or later.  I am not sure how they feel about the gambling and I am not sure of the details, but I think we have to plan for life without Bryce as much as we are planning for life with him.   I like Sorsby the player.  I see the Jets going after him if they have concerns about Klubnik-and they need competition for him anyway and a future replacement for Geno (who I think will suck back in NY).  Watch Atlanta, Cleveland, Indy, Miami, too, but Carolina is the team nobody is talking about, and Sorsby would be better than Kenny Pickett and maybe Haynes King is slated to always be the third QB/etc ST and Swiss Army knife--if he makes the team.   If Bryce falters, we need a QB who has potential, and Sorsby has it.  Pickett will never be a starter in this league, so his role is a #2.   I would be surprised if Morgan pulls the plug, but at worst he is a good backup and potential developmental starter.  To me-on paper--it makes too much sense.
