RG3 Blames Poor Performance from last year on Ankle Injury

"The biggest thing for me is coming back healthy. Last year I wasn't healthy, and it sucked, there's no other way to say it other than that. When you get broken and dragged home in the second week of the season ... When you and your team have big things in mind ... It's just getting healthy, getting the mental break, getting a chance to spend time with family, and then formulate my plan going forward for this year, and go ahead and win games and be playing again at this time next year."

More on dealing with the ankle injury: "I had never suffered an ankle injury to that severity before, so I didn't know what to expect. And it just became harder and harder with the more games we lost, because you know how hard the guys work, and you want to get out there and help them win games.

"I could have sat out the rest of last year with as bad as the ankle was, but I felt like I could play, and I wanted to get out there and play with my guys and help them win games. And that didn't happen when I got back out there, and coach made a decision. And that was an unfortunate decision, and something we all had to go with, because that was coach's choice. But at the end of the day I got to go back out there with my guys, we had a little bit of fun, we beat Philadelphia and the season didn't close the way we wanted it to, but we all know what we can do and we gotta go out there and do it, and there's nothing that we can say that's going to change what happened last year."

I literally have never seen an athlete use excuses like this for his poor performance.  Cam does this, he would get destroyed.

This dude just will never get it.

RGIII sucks. He's always makes excuses. He's soft. Always taking the blame, and that may be a humble thing to do. But if you don't change it for the better in this league, you're toast. The league is a vicious cycle of raw talent and young guys. You can't be the nice guy all the time and expect that to save your ass forever. Nut up.

And if you think RG3 gets a pass from whoever is interested in destroying Cam then you don't pay attention to football.

RG3 was consistently destroyed by the media and even his own coach last season. It's time to drop that the whole world is against Cam shtick. It's stale

the difference is RG deserves every bit of criticism thrown his way...hell he was partically crowned after his rookie season

RG3 does talk too much but Cam also gets a lot of the same hype. RG3 deserved the hype he got after his rookie season just like Cam. Cam had more passing yds and rushing TDs but RG3's game was cleaner; just 5 INT. I've heard his fan base describe it as the best rookie season by a QB.

Anyways, no one is out to destroy Cam. When he plays well he gets a ton of praise, when he plays bad he gets criticized, same with all QB. I mean the media was calling for the GOAT Brady to be benched at the beginning of the season.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
