yeah, has his own flaws.  Even looked conservative and stuffy with Lovie.

Which is a thing people don't seem to get when they post "unrelated thing - OK now let's bag on Shula" posts/threads.   Ron's move on the O was in 2012.  That's when they started going ball control and Chud got limited on what he could do.  This offense is more or less what Ron wants.   Just as Lovie Smith somehow hired Mike Martz and then tried to make him conservative.

Fire Shula, whatever, hire Proehl, Ramsdell, reanimate Don Coryell himself, let Hue Jackson berate whoever, but this team will want to do what it's doing.

Ron has almost no input on offense.

Ron doesn't call plays, but yeah, he has input on offense.  He said, toward the end of '12, for instance, after the team's "self-scouting" that they were making some changes, the offense got less radical and more ball control, and it's been that way ever since.

It's worth noting that it happened a few weeks after Kuechly started at MLB and the defense really kicked into gear.

I mean, you don't have to be in love with it but this is what Rivera wants.   Good defense, ball control O that takes some shots.

Hmm...

If Shula sucks next season, what if they promote Proehl to OC? Just a thought.

Not a good thought given he has never called a play in his life. Why do people feel the need to keep wanting guys who have little or no experience to be the OC. Don't you want someone with experience ???

Just because he hasn't done it yet doesn't mean he wouldn't be good at it. Shula has six years of being an NFL play caller, and he's still poo.

You answered your own question. If Shula who played quarterback and had experience as an OC still sucks in your opinion, why would Proehl do better with virtually no experience as anything but a receiver coach which is the only position he played in the NFL.

Sure he could be okay and I might grow wings tonight and fly. But why take the chance when they are other guys who would be more qualified and will be available as well. we did the same with Davidson and we see how that worked out.

Ricky played in the greatest show on turf. I'm fairly certain Shula would be confused from just watching it.

Shula would get the greatest show on turf confused with the Surf & Turf he orders at his dad's steakhouses.

I think people want a fresh mind. Someone new that is hungry not only to learn and improve his self, but use the individual talent from each player in the game plain, which will transform into plays that make sense with the right personal.
