Matthews/Mint Hill area going upscale?

So far they been building very upscale homes in the area and now this... Have a feeling they will finally build a mall on lawyers and and 485 within next 2 years.

The builder still has it on their website.  Mint Hill/Matthew area is booming right now...  They building crazy expensive houses here and have no problem selling them..  Look at the mall map of malls in Charlotte...  This area is clearly missing a mall.

Malls are still a thing? Honest question, as the traditional ones around here have been slowly dying off with one or two exceptions.

That land was cleared about 10 years ago, I don't see it happening either. It took Mint Hill like 15 years just to get an ABC store. Maybe once the "old" Mint Hill has died off will that mall be built.

Mint Hill is changing and being populated at crazy speed. People who don't feel like paying Charlotte tax are moving 5 miles from Ballentyne to Matthews Mint Hill area. There are two areas where mall can be built... Idlewild and 485 or Lawyers and 485. I see mall going up in one of this places within 5 years. The only reason there is no mall is because Simons owns all three malls outside the area... Carolina Place, Concord Mills and South Park. If they build mall in Mint Hill or Matthews, they will take consumers away from their other malls.

As far as I know, there is still a moratorium on new commercial water and sewer connections in that particular area of the county.  It's in the goose creek watershed and the environmental restrictions have only gotten more stringent in the area in the last 5 years.

I played golf in Mint Hill on Saturday with a couple of  buddies who were in town from Chicago for a week or so. They said someone told them Mint Hill is a "ritzy" area so they were confused why all they saw were scenes form Deliverance on the way to the course.   

 

I told them I thought that there was New Mint Hill and Old Mint Hill and they must have driven through Old Mint Hill. Not sure if that is accurate or not but it sounded good at the time.

I just put my old house up for sale in Matthews, needs some work but I am selling it cheap, 4 bedrooms in a great neighborhood, on a culdesac with a good amount of land if any of you are looking PM...who wouldn't want to get into this swanky part of town before it balloons up!

The new development on 51 and Monroe rd, they sale those house for $350k.... No clue why. Not a very good area but people buy them anyway.
