I like WalterFootball.com's current mock for Carolina

This is such a Hurney draft.

Project OL, lets grab two of them, Clemmings, has never played LT, Sambaillo looks like he needs to redshirt for two years.

USC WR in round two, third times a charm says Marty. Woods and Lee were much more lauded prospects coming from USC and even they have struggled some.

USC RB round 3. Doesn't play as big as he looks. 11 in the BP. Say it with me now, Eric Shelton.

Late round special teamer with great character and speed but is a little small, check.

Also, if a bunch of teams have a 2 round grade on him, there's no way DG is taking him in the first. He's more likely to take a pass rusher.

A lot of teams considered KB a "reach" in the 1st last year and DG didn't hesitate in taking him.

If DG thinks a player is 1st round talent and the best available, I'm willing to bet he doesn't give a rats ass what the other teams think of that player.

I like the positions predicted but Clemmings is a reach and Gettleman has stated many times he does not reach for need.  If the top OT's and WR's are off the board and don't match value, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gettleman draft a defensive end in the first.

We need an immediate starter from that 1st pick, not another project.

Would I be thrilled with T.J. Clemmings?  No, there are other OT prospects I like better.  But if he's the one that falls to us and DG pulls the trigger, I think the kid definitely has the make-up of an OT (even though its rough, raw material right now).  I really, really like all the other picks that (to me) seem to fit BPA at the time they were chosen in addition to filling team needs.

(P.S. This mock is only through the 5th round at this point.)

I would be one happy Carolina Panthers fan, if our draft turned out this way. :)

On the same site, Charlie Campbell's Carolina mock (through 4 rounds) is:

1st - La'el Collins OT/OG LSU

2nd - Preston Smith OLB/DE Mississippi State

3rd - Jaquiski Tartt S Samford

4th - Corey Robinson OT South Carolina

I like that one a lot too.

Tartt is underrated Safety. could probably get him in the 4th

What is a "reasonable mock"? They're fun to look at, but honestly they're all just a shot in the dark.

Well, I'm not getting into an argument over the meaning of words. Just look at any reputable site from last year and they should show Kelvin as a late 1st early 2nd rounder. Take a look at the NFL owns draft site (I'd link it if I could figure out how) from last year and they show Kelvin as 1st rounder whereas a truer "reach" like Marcus Smith is listed as a 3rd/4th rounder whom the Eagles took ahead of us when most expected them to draft a WR. Had they done so and not "reached" Kelvin may not have been there for us.

Some mocks have top OTs going ahead of us. I could see Gman taking Armstead, Goldman from fsu, or Texas DT.

Schefter says there are only about 16 or so 1st round grades, so a lot of teams will take guys projected for rd 2.

Unfortunately doesn't look like anyone has 2 second rounders to trade back for.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
