Joe Montana NFL Football 16... AKA NFL 2k16... Madden's tyrannical monopoly coming to an end?

We've done some digging, and it appears that (as everyone knows) EA had an exclusive license to use NFL likenesses, jerseys, insignias, and the like .What everyone seems to have missed though, is that the deal was renewed up to the end of 2013. There's no doubt that EA still has a license and that more Madden is on the cards of course, but there are serious questions being asked about whether or not that license is an exclusive one. When asked on Twitter at the start of last year, EA Sports COO Peter Moore dodged questions over exclusivity, and the word "exclusive" hasn't appeared in any related documents that we could find from 2014 onwards.

Plus, with Microsoft cutting a five-year, $400 million deal with the NFL to make the Microsoft Surface tablet the "official tablet of the NFL" there's already a working relationship between the two parties.

No, it's not.

Well....at least not out of the box. If it's on PC....yes, yes it will.

Doesn't matter if it comes out on PC. You can mod the crap out of it to include real teams with rosters and pictures. Someone will take the time to do so.

If this is the case I'm getting it.

I'm not so sure it won't have NFL teams and players.

1. If there is a loophole, Microsoft knows all about exploiting weaknesses of others.

2. If its a close call, it may well be worth the court fees and paying EA a slice of the pie in order to put out the product and gain players for when the exclusive license goes away completely.

3. The NFL would be much more loyal to Microsoft considering its latest surface promotions and such.

Microsoft is a huge gorilla that could squash EA if it wanted to.

Could very well be a loophole Microsoft found...

I doubt it....the idea that this was an NFL game started from a forum poster. If there was a loophole that a developer could make an NFL game as long as it was single party (as the poster claims), this would have been done years ago by 2K. The BS just doesn't add up. There's a game, but it's not an NFL game. This is going to be another All Pro Football type game. The one saving grace will be IF it's released for the PC. One of the developers has already been talking about how deep the customization in the game is going to be. They wouldn't need that if it had NFL teams out of the box.

Do you guys even research? That post is from some random guy on a forum. Joe Montana has already said it isn't using NFL teams and such. I wish I was wrong.

Biggest question for me is if it's on PC as well as whatever console it's on (if it's even exclusive to one console). If it's on PC it won't matter what the rosters and teams look like out of the box.

Montana tweeted an in game screenshot right after that rumor started circulating.. with no NFL teams in sight. That sorta kinda confirms its non licensed, would love to be wrong though. And I'm sure if the game is on PC and has full customization there will be a NFL roster mod within the first week anyways.
