Notes, Quotes, and Video from ECU Pro Day

Just the opposite. Hardy is one of the most underrated guy out there. Frankly he deserves the hype. ECU fans are excited about him because they have watched him as a receiver and a returner. He might run the best routes of anyone in college. Anyone. He makes incredible grabs in the seams and can stretch the field. Best of all if he gets one of his mitts on the ball he catches it.

Once he learns how to get off the line on press coverage, he will be a force wherever he goes. And that is not hype.....

I want Hardy so bad on the Panthers it's crazy.

Every year I hope we draft a pirate but am always disappointed. I was hoping we would pick up Dwayne Harris on the cheap in free agency but am happy with Ginn given the chemistry with Cam. I would like Hardy because I think he is the speedy slot guy who can still get loose out wide and come back on a dime and leap up for the grab. When was the last time we had a quick guy who ran great routes who could make leaping catches. Other than Smitty of course. He is unique. But Hardy has the ability to maybe be Smith lite.

I'd be just fine with taking Hardy in the mid-rounds. I really like that guy.

But... did I see someone compare him to OBJ? WTF?

A poor man's OBJ. That's possibly an apt comparison depending on one's perspective. About the same height and weight, excellent route runners, and great hands. The explosive factor is the real difference, and OBJ's explosive quotient is hard to match for anyone.

One thing about it, Jerry Rice didn't have great measurable either, but he sure had everything else. Just food for thought.

So... he made a couple of one handed catches.  Great.

In 12 NFL games this season, OBJ caught 91 balls for 1305 yards and 12 TDS.  The guy caught almost 70% of the balls thrown his direction.  If you take his numbers and extrapolate them to playing all 16 games, he would've had 1740 receiving yards.  As a rookie.  That would've been good for the 5th best season in NFL history.  As a rookie.

"ECU senior WR Justin Hardy dropped one of every 35 passes this past season.

For comparison sakes, West Virginia's Kevin White, who had 109 receptions and is a sure-fire Round 1 pick, dropped one of every 33. Hardy, a slot maven, recorded 121 catches, 1,494 yards, and 10 scores in 2014. NFL Media analyst Charles Davis recently wrote that Hardy "is a very good route runner" and shows "no fear going over the middle to make a grab."

That equates to a very impressive 2.857142 drop percentage.

J Hardy had 121 receptions his senior year which roughly equates 3 drops.

Which is why the poster that made the comparison said "poor man's OBJ".
