Why I think Owamagbe Odighizuwa will be the pick and should be the pick.

Over the last few months I have been pounding my proverbial fists on the proverbial table for a WR in the 1st round. While I love the WRs in this draft class and frankly if we go WR I wont be mad at all. However after thinking about it more and more in recent days, I am really getting on the Owamagbe train. He has drawn comparisons to Robert Quinn and Quin is just a straight up monster, he would fill that void that Hardy left and will be CJ's eventual replacement because CJ is not getting younger.

Also consider this; Kony Ealy age 23, Star Lotulelei age 25, Kawann Short age 26 (actually suprised hes already 26) and Owamagbe age 22. So my point? That would be the age of our D line if we draft Owamagbe, in other words, very young. We would have our D line solidified for years to come, atleast the next 6-8 years, we would be set at D line, Owamagbe would be that final piece to the D line puzzle.

Also with the additions of Ginn, Jonathan Martin, Michael Oher, Jarret Boykin among the two other corners we signed Kurt Coleman and the guy from the Bears ( I cant remember his name, not taking a jab at Gettleman i literally cant remember his name) not world beaters by any stretch but as a collective group, might be just enough to make Gettleman feel good about drafting Owamagbe in the 1st round.

    • And really, it should be 4 reasons with the last one being that there were ZERO other offensive weapons on that team in 2024, opposing defenses only had to worry about one player all year long and they constantly double and triple teamed him right off the snap all season.  In 2023, we still had Jacob Cowing who had 90 catches that year and was drafted by the 49ers last year, so teams couldn't just send everyone after T-Mac on every passing down.
    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
