Why I think Owamagbe Odighizuwa will be the pick and should be the pick.

He is on my short list (first round)

Owamagbe DE

Collins SS

Flowers OT

Strong WR

Thompson OLB

I feel confident the first round pick is one of those.

The DE makes a lot of sense--he has not addressed it in free agency. He is going to have to address CJ's deal to re-sign Cam and Luke. He is a good player at a need position.

Gettlemen is the GM, so he wants depth because that gives him leverage.

I would be stoked for either Strong or Owa. What you said makes sense and my sentiment also, I just have this gut feeling Gman just isnt sold on any OTs in the 1st round, bet he takes Cedric Ogbuhei in the 2nd or 3rd if he falls. Either way, I just dont see us going O line.

Gman will look how well our O line played down the stretch against two stout Ds in the playoffs in the Cards and Seahawks, he saw Bell as the only weak link and he brought in Oher to remedy the problem, he brought in Martin for depth.

Infact im certain Owa is the pick if hes there.

He would not be a great first round pick. Would not be happy with drafting a raw DE who needs time to potentially become an effective pass rusher. Much rather take a polished WR like Strong or Agholor.  No denying he's a freak athlete but he's not a first round prospect.  Put up similar numbers as Datone Jones did his senior year at UCLA, while being surrounded by a superior supporting cast. Datone Jones was taken 26th overall and has not amounted to anything.  Ya never know though.

I agree. I wouldn't mind drafting Owa in the second because I feel he's just too raw. Strong would be a great pick. My dream would be for us to trade down grab an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder and get 3 good players.

Over the last few months I have been pounding my proverbial fists on the proverbial table for a WR in the 1st round. While I love the WRs in this draft class and frankly if we go WR I wont be mad at all. However after thinking about it more and more in recent days, I am really getting on the Owamagbe train. He has drawn comparisons to Robert Quinn and Quin is just a straight up monster, he would fill that void that Hardy left and will be CJ's eventual replacement because CJ is not getting younger.

Also consider this; Kony Ealy age 23, Star Lotulelei age 25, Kawann Short age 26 (actually suprised hes already 26) and Owamagbe age 22. So my point? That would be the age of our D line if we draft Owamagbe, in other words, very young. We would have our D line solidified for years to come, atleast the next 6-8 years, we would be set at D line, Owamagbe would be that final piece to the D line puzzle.

Also with the additions of Ginn, Jonathan Martin, Michael Oher, Jarret Boykin among the two other corners we signed Kurt Coleman and the guy from the Bears ( I cant remember his name, not taking a jab at Gettleman i literally cant remember his name) not world beaters by any stretch but as a collective group, might be just enough to make Gettleman feel good about drafting Owamagbe in the 1st round.

IMO no, there will be a BPA tackle that will fall to us for the 25th pick. There is depth at DE and I rather take Preston Smith in 2nd even if we have to move up, he is better potential with ability to play inside and ability to hold point of attack in the run game.
