Frank Hollywood's final 3.0 Mock draft

Thank you for reading my final mock (3.0) of the 2015 season. If this mock were to play out, I believe we would have struck gold. Some of you will love it, some of you will hate it, others will call it unrealistic. (It's for entertainment)

Either way, your discussion is always welcome.

 

 

 

Pick 1. In my previous two mocks this year, I never discussed a trade. In this final mock, I have trading our 25th pick to the Vikings who badly want Gurley. We swap our first rounder for their second rounder, and get their third and fifth as a bonus.

(yes, the point system evens out)

 

 

With the 45th pick in the draft, we select:

Phillip Dorsett, WR

Dorsett may be the fastest player in this year’s draft at ANY position. He absolutely has elite explosiveness like no other and even clocked a 4.27 at his Pro Day. He has no trouble creating separation and would complement Kelvin Benjamin nicely. One of his main knocks are his route running which is something that our WR coach could certainly help with.

In an effort to secure someone Gettle believes has great potential to be a starter at LT for the future, we package our original third and our acquired third to move up to the 54th pick. With the 54th pick we select:

Cedric Ogbuehi, OT

 

This guy was a legit first rounder before tearing his ACL late in the year. While he did give up multiple sacks in his last few games, scouts have said this is due to his strength, which NFL conditioning can certainly help with. The only reason we are talking about him this late is because he probably won’t be ready for camp, but look for him to most likely see playing time later in the year and take over the starting LT spot for years to come.

 

 

 

 

With our original 2nd round selection we select: 

Jay Ajayi, RB

I can’t believe I haven’t heard more about this kid. With two monsters being talked about in the first round, Ajayi is living in the shadows but is a future star in the NFL. I couldn’t watch his highlights without getting excited about the thought of him paired with Stewart for the next few years. If you haven’t watched the clip below, watch it now!

 

 

 

With our 4th round selection we select:

 

Kevin White, CB

 

Kevin White is an interesting prospect as he is somewhat of a project but shows great skill, as he held the WR Kevin White in check all game last year and usually was matched up with the opponent’s best receiver. He would be a great addition to our CB corps and could potentially solidify the unit.

 

 

With our acquired 5th round selection we select:

 

Chris Conley, WR

I’ve seen him discussed in many draft talk circles and believe we really should pull the trigger on a WR here. In other drafts he could go much higher, but the mass of talent at WR in this draft could land him here.  He’s fast, clocking a 4.35 in the 40 and has no problem creating separation. He can certainly fight for the ball and has been compared to Latimer.

 

 

 

With our original 5th round selection we select:

 

Za'Darius Smith, DE

 

Has the size, strength and burst of a future NFL starter. Good hands but needs to improve his pad level. He could be our next Frank Alexander, but without the weed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

With our 5th round compensatory pick we select:

 

David Parry, NT

 

A potential sleeper prospect who had a great week at the East-West Shrine and could certainly spell Star, which is great considering Colin Cole is 122 years old.

 

 

 

 

 

 

With our 5th round compensatory pick we select:

 

James Sample, SS

 

A few people have discussed Sample as a possible steal late in the draft. Roman Harper isn’t getting any younger and Sample could be a great replacement if he pans out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

With our 6th round selection we select:

 

Justin Fowler, FB

 

Fowler  is the top FB in this draft . With Tolbert’s uncertainty, this could be a great pick as Fowler is not only a good blocker, but can pave the way for our running backs of the future.

 

 

 

 

With our 7th round selection we select:

 

Jake Smith, C

Jake Smith is a project worth a late flyer on. Ryan Kalil is only getting older and having a backup like Smith wouldn’t hurt. Smith has the brains but may lack the athleticism at the next level. Hopefully this is something our coaching staff can help with.

 

 

 

Although this has been mostly an offensive draft (it was needed), we also addressed a few needs on defense in later rounds. Leave your thoughts below!

I like Gurley a lot. However, I'd rather have Dorsett and ajayi than just gurley.

It's a late first for an early second, an early third and the very first 5th rounder. I hear you though, and you may have a good point with Gurley being one of the last "elite" players left at 25.

The Patriots are garbage at drafting. They go to the Super Bowl because of their QB and coach. Their drafted players usually wash out and get replaced by old free agents.
