The Weakside LB gets virtually no snaps in our defense. Trying to act as if we have some fierce collection of LBs when the 3 will seldom see snaps on the field together is ridiculous.

Additionally, it's being reported he won't be at OTAs.

He'll play a safety position while we are in Nickel.

He won't play strictly WILL. Like Rivera said, he will be covering the TE in the nickel (aka safety) and will be WILL when we are in a 4-3.

People also seem to forget that it took TD several years to develop into a starter-level player. And TD was, IMO, a much better football player with better natural instincts.

Whether you hate the pick or love it, really doesn't matter... He's probably going to be forced to start and play regardless.

Why won't you guys believe Gettleman when he says he will stick to his board.

I believe him. It'd just be nice to see him put some OTs on his board for a freaking change(and trade up to get one, if need be). Maybe he can resign Byron Bell.

We could of drafted a kicker in the first and the yes-men in here would have said it was a great pick

We are like the jets of the NFC. We have a ton of picks I don't understand why can't we use the first couple of picks on offense and the late picks on defense.

And too top it off the Colt get Dorsett. I never want to hear Cam get compared to any of these other QBs until this team commits to him

Like I've said...

Shaq will be weak side LB in 4-3 and the SS in nickel!

Love it!

 

and Green Bay is licking their chops at this. with players like Cobb, Beckham, Jackson, etc playing in the slot, i just do not see Thompson being able to stay in coverage vs them.

      Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.

      It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
