La'El Collins may be in play after all

Well, playing the Browns, Bucs, Falcons and Saints to end the year definitely helped, whether you care to admit that or not. The Cardinals were a walking IR team going into the playoffs. But I won't pretend Carolina didn't improve on the field as well.

Going away from the veterans and moving to what seems like more talented rookies helped. Remmers and Norwell stepped in and really held their own on the line, which really struggled early. Pretty much any resistance was an upgrade. Bene coming back from injury and playing as well as he was before his injury was a help for the secondary, as well as Boston taking over a starting spot. Any time you take Thomas Decoud off the field, good things happen. Josh Norman played at a very high level the last half of the season. I don't want to crown him yet, but he looked very good.

The pass rush really picked up towards the end of the season as well. Not sure if that had anything to do with playing teams with horrible olines or not, but it did. I know many are hoping for a bounce back year from Star though. Stewart staying healthy and taking over on offense was a major plus. His numbers were so much better than Williams. Philly Brown getting a little more time on the field as the field stretcher really helped too. Putting some speed out there.

Anyway, I know plenty about the team. I don't watch all 16 games, but I watch around 10, I guess. Couple that with being here every day and reading what all of you maroons ( :D ) are saying and I have a pretty god understanding about the team.

It's solid but it's just not the full picture, though I wouldn't expect anybody to know the full picture of a team they're not fans of.

Half the people here don't know that Bene was injured and just want to complain that Rivera was playing Godfrey because he can not evaluate talent.

"Sign with the Saints or we'll frame your ass for conspiracy to commit murder, and you know we'll get away with it because with football players it's guilty until proven innocent."

Heehee, that wouldn't work.  I would call their bluff.

You undersell your worse nightmare, Cameron Jerrell Newton, getting back to 100% and not having an UDFA French Canadian that never played in the states at the LT position.

I know your game. Cam is MJ. He's the GOAT. He's an unparalleled God. You're not baiting me into getting banned again though.

Cam Newton is the least of my worries when we play the Panthers. The last two years, he's averaged about 180 yards passing and 40 yards rushing. He's got 7 total TDs in 4 games and 2 interceptions. In those games, he's about a 50% passer.

You're correct. Bell is gone and replaced by someone who has arguably played worse than him the last few years.

passing yardage stats? saints fan confirmed.

in Cam's very first meeting with the Saints, he went for nearly 380 yards and we lost. I'd rather win on a last second TD to Domenik Hixon than rack up fantasy numbers.

That's not the discussion we're having. He said, "your worst nightmare". Cam doesn't scare me. The Panthers defense is scary. Cam is not.

Aren't stats what Panthers fans throw up any time someone says anything negative about Cam? There a thread on it on page 1 right now. Stats are great unless they don't work in your favor...

^ A hurt, back-to-back, defending NFCS Champ GOAT. If he survived last year, and still left you with these lasting images of the worst beatdown in the greatest era of Saints football history, I think we'll be OK. The rest is meaningless gobbledygook and/or wishful thinking. But thanks for helping further prove why La'el belongs here.

To show why Cam doesn't scare you, your argument was stats. Cam will not have impressive volume stats in a Shula offense. It will never happen. What Cam will do in a Shula offense, however, is keep Brees on the sidelines. Brees scares absolutely no one while on the sideline.

    • Who believes after Rico went off that Dave will go back to Chuba, go very pass happy again, run Chuba 7 times, and give Rico 5 carries?   he has a weird obsession with wanting to pass it over and over with Bryce.
    • I never once said I believed in Sam. Only that he’s proof that the Jets and Panthers are bad organizations. You spent all that time on me. I’m flattered.
    • Story of the year. Get down massively to Arizona, look like your first NFL game to throwing for more than 300 yards and getting the team to within 40 yards of a come back win. Get down 17-0 to Miami, execute the offense to outscore the Dolphins 27-7 the rest of the way. Defeat the Falcons 30-0 throwing for like 150 yards. Personally, I think it would be great to have retained Darnold. Darnold in this scheme with Canales would instantly make this team a contender for the NFC South. However that didn't happen.  I don't know what you do because when they run game gets shut down, and it will get shut down, you have to depend on Bryce to play efficiently. On one third down ball to someone (I forget who), when he was rolling out and made that throw close to the sideline to convert, the TV people would talking about how special that was. What I saw was another receiver streaking all alone 45 yards downfield, with about 5 yards of separation. Even while rolling out, an average QB is able to deliver that ball, signed, and sealed for a touchdown. Bryce's lack of deep ball ability is the achilles heel to this offense and it's something that can't be fixed.  I would love to be able to draft Carson Beck. I think he took a lot of crap at UGA which now seems unwarranted. Looking at how inefficient their offense is now compared to how it was with Beck at QB, and now how he has gone into the system Cam Ward was in and outperformed him massively in just pure execution and efficiency, along with the physical traits, tells me he will be a Top 3 pick. We won't have a Top 3 pick though. So what do we do? I have no idea. Canales is too good of an offensive coach for us to get a Top 3 pick and Bryce is inconsistent enough to get us a Top 10 pick. So absent finding a guy like Nix with tons of experience and good enough measurables, which requires great evaluations, I just think we are stuck.
