Cam needs to step up this year

I do not know if it has already been stated, but only looking at the first page I felt disgusted.  You all are talking about Cam needing to step up, he already did. After his first season when everyone thought he wasn't a leader. HE STEPPED UP. He has not had anything to step up with. It doesn't matter if you become a better student, without the tools to do the work, you can never truly step up. They are giving him tools to be successful so he will actually get to show it this season.

 

Also, all you fair weather fans seemed to forget that he had ANKLE SURGERY last off season that kept him from doing anything. Was even still hurting him in the beginning and I would argue most of the season and he still put the team on his back. Get off his "D**K" and watch this man work with "Big Ben" and "Funch Master Flex"

Maybe if our front office stops drafting defense and starts spending money on free agents than Cam can be the elite QB you want him to be.

As it stands Cam's number 2 receiver is a converted TE who had a ton of drops, is slow as dirt, and is a rookie to top it off. And his LT is a guy in his 3rd team in 3 years. Personally I'm not expecting much from Cam this upcoming season.

 

Do you really believe this/are prepared to look like a fool when the season starts?

 

Must be looking for attention.

Their play is elite status. Well Luke's is. But he also can improve, but if he doesnt its ok because he is already one of the best if not the best MLB in the NFL.

If Cam doesn't improve he is "only" getting you @30 total TDS a year. That may not be super elite but is damn good and is good enough to win big with.

He is not good enough at this stage in his career to get us 10 wins by himself, but at this stage he shouldn't be asked to

Just let the guy develop, and in the meantime enjoy the 30 TDS a year he gets you

But how many turnovers and boneheaded plays at key moments go along with those 30 TDs?

 

To be honest I think Shula is really holding back Cam. But I do not see Shula leaving anytime soon so we are gonna need Cam to overcome Shula and raise his game to the next level.

Well we haven't exactly given Cam a good enough supporting cast the last few years. However I do agree to extent. I would like to see him start taking over games with his passing prowess and we all know he can do it. He's  got enough to work with at WR now and the line has gotten better. Really really want to see Cam pass for 27-30 TDs this year.

 

 

That'll be tough as long as Ron and Mike continue with the "Pound the ball 1st down, pound the ball 2nd down, pound the ball 3rd down, kick FG" philosophy when they get inside the 5-yard line.

 

Other QBs get the opportunity to throw the ball in those situations in this league.  Cam gets to hand it off.  Kinda hard to run up your TD numbers when your coaches are fine with kicking FGs.

I didnt realize being a middle of the road QB who is inconsistent makes one "great".

Lots of great QBs in the league then lol

He certainly without question has the potential to be great but he is not there yet.

Under Chud our D was bad and Cam did help carry us. But, with those big numbers came picks and inconsistent play as well.

Now with our D good Cam has cut down on the picks and yards but still is inconsistent.

Cam is gonna get a mega contract so for our sake, we better hope he steps up his game.

This is the best synopsis I have seen in this thread on Cam. For some reason too many fans here think Cam is on the verge of being a great or elite QB. I don't see it. Is he going to get a huge contract? Likely so, but he is too inconsistent and his footwork is lazy to be elite. He is and will always be an above average QB with tons of athletic ability.

Probably unlike most of the huddle, I am not 100% sure Cam can lead us to a Superbowl win or become that great QB we hope and expected him to be. He has been inconsistent since coming into the league. 

 

Yes, he has had some significant limitations (OL and OC) but OL should be much improved this year. 

 

I would like to be able to see him with an actual OC who has produced top 10 offenses but unfortunately, I do not see Shula getting fired due to our defense keeping all the games close. I hope I am wrong on that. 

 

So, Cam has to take that next step WITH Shula. As of right now, I am weary of investing the farm on a guy that is as inconsistent as Cam.

And lol at the idiots who think Cam should be on Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady level at this stage in his career.

Those guys were not even on the Peyton Manning, Dree Brees, Tom Brady level when they were 24 years old.

How about just letting Cam develop and putting right pieces in place around him so he doesn't have to try and carry the offense?

I am a Cam supporter, I just aint blind to the fact that he still has a good ways to go to be the quarterback we/he wants to be. Still way to inconsistent regardless of what ever factors are causing it, which are many. 

 

And we are stuck with him for the good and bad. So for all our sake, lets pray he takes that next step up.
