Cam needs to step up this year

Recommended Posts

I am excited as well. I have a strong feeling that Oher will be a big upgrade from Bell. I also like that we seem to have cohesion as well. For us the problems were not from the between the 20s, the problems were in the Red Zone! And so what do we do? We get another huge Receiver! And not only that, we get a huge road grader at Tackle that could come in on short yardage situations.

I agree completely about Oher.

I think Corey Brown's progression might be underestimated by a lot of people.  He's only going get stronger.  He really could be a nice weapon in the slot this year.

Umm qb rating doesn't mean anything.

LOL, it doesnt mean anything if Cam is not ranked no.1 right?

In 2014, among all the factors we evaluate a qb, here is Cam's ranking:

TTL Yards:21st

Comp: 22nd

Comp pct: 29th

Yards/Attempt: 25th

TD: 21st

INT:15th

None is even in the top 10.

I dont even know Cam is that bad after searching...

Just a quick ranking i threw together

1. Brady

2. Manning

3. Rodgers

4. Wilson

5. Big Ben

6. Brees

7. Romo

8. Luck

9. Ryan

10. Rivers

11. Flacco

12. Eli

13. Cam

14. Tannehill

15. A. Smith

15. Cutler

Wilson is a little high on that list, and Rivers at 10 above guys who have actually won 1-2 SuperBowls like Flacco and Eli is a bit much.

Wilson is right where he needs to be. Back to back superbowls. Should have two rings if his coach didnt go full retard.

He is smart and simply makes plays when they are needed.

Put Rivers on that Balitmore and Giants team and they do even better. Eli throws way too many picks for me to put him above Rivers regardless of his lucky superbowl wins.

Cam had a REALLY rough yr last yr.

But you have to cut him some slack due to the atrocious OL play and Shula being trash.

I rarely use SB's as a way to judge a QB, but to each his own.

Rivers is a top 5 QB in the league, he just is on a bottom tier team.  Look at the completion %, TD to INT ratio, yards per game as a starter, etc....

He will likely go down as a Marino type player.

I dont understand the rules here.

Some QBs get consideration for their whole career.

Some are ranked because of SB success.

There is nothin uniform about these ranks.

There are:

Active all time list

Active SB winners list

Active stat leaders list

Active games won list

They all are different.  You can not mix them together.

If you rank Brady first then you must be using either the SB list or the All-time list.  Neither of which is an accurate way to rank Cams achievements.

Be careful when you rank QBs.  Your heart will lie to you.  And pick one list and stick to it.

So wait, Eli has two "lucky superbowl wins", but you rank Russell Wilson 4th out of all QB's for being the winning QB in one of the most lopsided Super Bowl's in history? Which by the way was also one of the most dominant defensive efforts by a Super Bowl team in the Seahawks. Seattle may as well have been playing a high school team out there, that is how putrid Denver was. They didn't even score a touchdown until the 4th fugging quarter.

But you're gonna poo on Eli? Ok....

Yes because the rest of our explosive players on offense were just waiting for Cam to put it together

SB is not a good indicator by itself, but one needs to acknowledge a QB that is able to step up in the biggest of moments and lead his team to a win. (assuming they played good in the SB win)

I think everyone's perspective changes if we use QB-A and QB-B etc in these discussions.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
