Should we trade Stewart?

Whats opinions here? With Goodsen looking like a solid RB, giving us 3 of them along with questions about Stewarts health(potentially being a constantly injury plagued RB).....Why not trade Stewart now?

What is his trade value? could we get a stud DT for him? If so, who?

Seems like some bold move like this(getting a solid DT for him) is the way to improve the team via the Defense while possibly not hurting the Offense too bad? Better overall team?

I like Stewart, but at end of the day its a business. We need to win, we need a better Defense to do that and we are strong at RB without Stewart.

Plus, there are signs that Stewart may be one of those constantly injury riddled players.

How many regular season games has he missed in his career?

whats the Salary Cap implications here? With Williams and Stewart their rookie contracts will be up in coming years, Steve Smith will be up again and then Otah of course too after paying Gross a fortune.

Can we keep all these people after the rookie contracts are up?

Then of course there is the QB situation as Delhomme gets older

no, no, no, no, come on please stop suggesting this people. goodson has looked good in preseason but he is no j stewart ok. He will do fine in relief and in special packages but he is not the complete package. we need j stew because when d will gets winded and he goes in there is no drop off, i dont understand how anyone could even really think of getting rid of him.

well, didn't he drop in draft last yr because of his hurt Toe and there was a feeling he was an injury riddled player?

That combined with his achilles, after just 1 season being #2 makes me wonder a little about him.

I'd much prefer to keep him, just thinking from the overall team point of view.

Heck if not him, maybe Goodsen down the road whats he is better known and proved will be worth something on trading block?

Bottom line is we need a much better Defensive Line one way or the other.

I would imagine that Smith will retire after his current deal is up....Stewart is only on his second year of like a 5 year contract, Williams still has 2 or 3 years left, Otah still has like 4 or 5 years. Once something gets handled with Peppers, one way or the other we should be okay with the cap. That, and next year will probably have no salary cap.

    • Well even if we took diverging paths getting there...our overall assessment of Shough is the same (bolded) lol so I guess that's what matters.  What you call "playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter" is the same thing I'm referencing when I talk about his poise.  Although I still wonder how truly "bad" of a team the Saints are.  Their defense is middle-of-the-road, and their offense does have some good pieces (Olave, Juwan Johnson) outside of running back which is the position most everyone agrees is relatively plug-and-play.  I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the majority of NFL team's o-lines lol but I'm assuming Saints are not great there, although Shough's pressure % seems to have been quite low (and steadily improving) over the last four weeks (20 -> 16.7 -> 15.0 -> 13.0) so maybe they've been playing better as of late, or perhaps Shough himself deserves credit for that.   Some of the language I'm hearing about Shough, including talking about how he's way above league average in several categories, makes it sound like Shough is having a rookie season on par with like a CJ Stroud who established himself as basically a Top 5-10 QB his rookie season.  Maybe that's on me though, I don't mean to attribute anything to you that I'm sure you don't agree with.
    • Since your being selective (and somewhat deceptive) with your comparisons, I'll throw this up so we can compare apples to apples. Both Young and Shough have played against the Rams. Young went: 15/20 (75%) for 191 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs with a 147.1 QB rating Shough went: 15/24 (62.5%) for 176 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT with a 81.2 QB rating   Both Young and Shough have played against the Buccs. Young went: 21/32 (65%) for 206 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs with a 102.5 QB rating Shough went: 13/20 (65%) for 176 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT with a 65.4 QB rating   Both Young and Shough have played against the Falcons. Young went: 31/45 (75%) for 448 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs with a 123.2 rating Shough went: 30/43 (69.7%) for 243 yards, 0TD, 1 INT with a 74 QB rating   Seriously, in what world is Shough a better QB.
    • Freddie? For this game? Seriously? I don’t get it. Hope we get the best version of Freddie tonight.
