"No debate" these QBs are better than Cam Newton

For me the writer makes one solid point, there are always excuses surrounding QBs who cannot produce at a high level, whether OC, "weapons", oline etc. At a certain point, a good QB should be able to overcome all that or else we would be talking about oline again next year.

This is really Cam's season to take a big step forward, if he can't then it is what it is.

There's only 2 guys on a real "No debate" list. That's Rodgers and Brady. People that make these lists don't even know the definition of the list that they're trying to make. Any other QB in the league you can debate about Cam being equal to or greater than. Give Cam an actual o-line and receivers, he will dominate the league with his skill set, size, cannon arm, and athleticism.

Sorry I searched Canadia Today magazine for a more compelling thread topic but every article was written by some yahoo comparing and contrasting the benefits of banging a moose vagina instead of a human vagina.

You didn't happen to save that link, did you?

brady...yes

ben.....because of experience, yes. ben is very underrated, tho.

flacco...in post season he's really good.

luck....i dunno. luck = higher floor newton = higher ceiling. i have always thought that luck was someone that could go into any system and play at a high level. cam could play in any system, but he should be in one that is built around his skillset to get the most out of him (which is more than you could ever get with luck, imo).

peyton of even 3 years ago....yes. peyton now? push and leaning towards nah. he's a lot smarter than cam (or pretty much any QB that has played the game), but he has diminished capabilities that negates the advantages his intellect might bring about.

rivers...yeah, he's just good. another underrated QB like ben. wouldn't trade cam for him or anyone, tho.

rodgers...yes

romo....nah. very overrated and crumbles under pressure.

brees...yes, but his size and devolving situation in new orleans along with increasing age is going to cause a decline in his production. i don't think he has many years left of relevancy.

ryan...no way

russell...nope. dude is the luckiest QB in the league. that won't last.

eli....nope

kap....bwhahahahahahahahahahaa NAH!

stafford...leaning towards no. i like him, but he's as good as he's ever going to get. cam's still quite a ways away from peaking.

palmer....nope. guy hasn't been the same since that fat steeler rolled on him and bent his knee backward.

cutler....if he wasn't so emo, maybe, but i don't think he was ever as good as people made him out to be.

This, I put Russell over Cam right now though.  Which still makes Cam Top 10.  As long as Russell keeps winning you will be hard pressed to find any true fan that will put Cam above him.  Luck also is above Cam too, no contest on that one.

Meh, it's more the topic than the writer. Thought it would be interesting to see who the Huddle thinks ranks higher than Cam.

I would put Cam Top 10.  But that's as far as it goes.  No order, but above him is A-Rod, Manning Broncos, Luck, Russell, Ben, Brady, Flacco, Brees.

Does he mean when they are all the same age?

Manning was being questioned whether he was the answet because he couldn't win consistently and had zero playoff wins

Brees was drafted over

Brady was in a QB controversy with Drew Bledsoe

So.... let's see where he is after he has some experience cocksmar

Scott Kacsmar (I believe his last name is pronounced "Cock-smar") believes this list of QBs, without debate, are better than Cam Newton

No debate: Brady, Ben, Flacco, Luck, PM, Rivers, Romo, ARod, Brees, Ryan, Wilson. Also: Eli, Kap, Stafford, Palmer, Cutler @panthersman1982

So, what say you?  I would agree with all but Wilson, Kap, Cutler, and Palmer.

No debate: Brady, Roethlisberger, ARod, Romo, PM, Brees (though after last season i'm not too sure).

maybe better, maybe worse: flacco, luck, rivers, ryan, wilson.

definitely worse than cam: eli, kap, stafford, palmer.

NOTE: CUTLER WAS BENCHED IN FAVOR OF JIMMY F&%$ING CLAUSEN!!!!!

Cam's stats have been eerily identical to Kaepernick over the last two years (with Kaep's looking a tad better) so I don't know where people get the idea Cam is so much better than Kaep.

You can compare Cam's numbers but the problem with that is Kap has had a vast amount of weapons and arguably the best O-Line in the business.  While Cam has had a broken down running game, Byron Bell, Nate Chandler, and Amini, and lastly Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen.  That's why many say Kap isn't as good.  Hell, even 49er fans hate Sack or Pick.

Again we have excuses. This was not the case in 2013 when Cam had his full cast of "weapons". Can you tell me what weapon Kaep had that Cam did not have? TE is a push. WR? Cam had Ginn, Smith and LaFell, Kaep had Boldin and that's about it. Kaep's passer rating was also in the 90s, something Cam has never achieved in his career.

If Cam does not want to be compared to these other QBs, he'll have to shut people up by leading the NFL in a significant passing stat, like Luck did last year to shut most of the haters (including me) up.

    • I'd edited to be more clear where he was ahead of league average, but realize it was easily missed, sorry.  I do hope he falls off a cliff production wise because if he actually continues at this pace it's highly likely the TDs come and then he'll be a real problem. Anyway, to the stats... Shough is substantially better than the average in completion percentage, YPG, and INT% (68% vs 64.4% and 237 vs 215 and 1.7 vs 2.2). He is pretty close to the average in Y/A (7.14 vs 7.1) and rating (91.63 vs 91.8). He is a bit below the average in TDs per game (1.3 vs ~1.5, which is hard to average exactly due to the number of players that are part of this stat), QBR (51.54 vs 54.7) and quite a bit below in TD% (3% vs 4.7%). In advanced stats, he's above the league average in intended air yards/attempt (8.1 v 7.7) and on target % (76.8 vs 74.6), while barely below is in bad throw % (16.1 vs 16.0). This jives with what I've seen - decent young player, playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter, on a bad team. I've always said (and this is true of Bryce too, I even mentioned it this year) that I am less concerned with 30+ yard bombs than consistency at 15+ yards, because you need to be able to threaten past the sticks. Shough is doing that. Vs us in week 15 he had ~one third of his passes 15ish or more yards and he was money on them, and that wasn't really an exception, he has had some nice throws outside of that.  All that said, dude is just super new to the league, and once film gets out, if he does have limitations they will be exploited. No way he can get OROTY. And thanks for the kind words - I am prone to hyperbole at times, but I'm also just impressed by Shough. We'll see if he can keep it up (I hope not, unless the Saints randomly trade him lol)
    • To be fair, going from 2 wins, to 5 wins, to 8 wins at least is a pretty big positive no matter how insufferably miserable a select handful in this group want to make everything.
    • Yeah Moore is definitely going to be a problem.  I remember he was the favorite for our job at one point in time.
