NFL.com lists: 3 guys give their top 10 QBs

Bucky Brooks, Elliot Harrison and Dave Dameshek give their top 10 QBs for the 2015 season.  One of these three have Cam on their list.  Who can it be?  My blind bet would be Brooks, he often has a soft spot for the Panthers.  NOPE.  His is probably the worst list of them all with Big Ben at #2 and Russell Wilson at #4 (wtf?!).  Elliot Harrison?  Uh uh.  His list is more realistic than Brooks' but Alex Smith at #10 is even worse than Russell Wilson at #4.

Our good buddy Dave Dameshek has Cam at a respectable #7, and even goes the extra mile by admitting what many pundits are scared to say these days:

7) Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Owning the mythical Best Rookie Season Ever and back-to-back NFC South titles doesn't do justice to his distinct skill set. Now that Newton's got two big WRs, his (in)accuracy issues should continue to dissipate.

If a healthy and happy Cam goes off this year? We are talking MVP. Oh...and probably three time winner of the NFCS with, dare I say, Playoff Success.

This team is pretty well set up to allow Cam to take us anywhere he can lead us.

A happy, and truly healthy Cam should be a scary thought for anyone not a Panther fan. And judging from early reports, he is looking as good as ever.

There was a time when I thought Bucky Brooks was a decent scout, but over time I've come to realize he's not that good.  And yes, that realization came before I read this list.

Dameshek is a Steelers guy, so Roethlisberger is always gonna be top of his list.  I have little doubt that if he thought he could get away with putting Roethlisberger over Aaron Rogers, he would.

The thing I see honestly on all three lists is that their top quarterbacks aren't necessarily the best, they're mostly just  the most hyped.  Dameshek including Newton?  I wouldn't bet he believes that much in him.  Probably just trying to be different.

Not a fan of these lists, or these writers.

How much of what these talking heads have to say is pandering to what the most neutral fans want to hear and then throwing in a controversial/unusual topic/prediction/opinion every now and then to stand out or appeal to certain fan bases.

Very much like this:

"Verrrry P**sy!"

Imma be honest y'all underrate the poo out of Russ around here

I like Wilson's future a lot, but he is a game manager who has benefitted greatly by having a dominant defense and run game.  It kind reminds me of Tom Brady early on when he won his first Super Bowls.  He has a long way to go imo to get out of the Andy dalton tier of game manager qbs, but definitely has the leadership qualities to do so.  As of right now, he is definitely not a top 5 qb.

Funny you say that....

Dave posted a pic of the rookies yesterday and was complaining about the Browns uniforms on the Twitter. I being the person I am responds with something to the effect of well yeah but we all know the Panthers have the greatest uniform of all time don't we Dave?

Here's where things get weird... the dude private messaged me. "You poor thing. Surly you have better things to do." I actually like Dave and think he gives our team a fair shake. I told him I was just giving him poo and told him what I think he gives our team a fair shake. He responded with he LOVES Cam and (this part threw me off) the game day experience in Charlotte.... but all he really wanted to focus on was those damn uniforms and our reaction during that tourny.

I explained to him we are a small fan base with an inferiority complex so the fact he never finished the story and crowned us champions really got under our skin (according to him some of y'all went after him hard lol) He told me someone screwed with the voting blah blah blah.... so yes he never finished it cause someone made a bot and to him was cheating BUT he did give praise to Cam. And I don't think he would just randomly throw that out there.

^ cool story bro.

and I'm not being facetious.

I did like Dameshek before the whole uniform controversy.  Think he's a funny guy.  Didn't like being done dirty with the uniform thing though, surely he realizes that with that many votes we weren't the only ones using less than honorable means....

Cam is def a top 10 QB if Wilson is. I've seen QBs do better in other systems with better talent but not do what Can does with the ball. Cam is not Rogers or Manning in his prime but he is just as good as the others and getting better. Both team wise and skill.

Yeah I think his biggest hang up is that someone botted the votes... which was technically not against the rules since you could vote as many times as you want.

But yes that pissed us all off and later in that back and forth I called him out on it. But it is what it is. He does give the Panthers as a whole a fair shake but if you look at what I said and what he responded with you can see how national media AND fans from the older bandwagon teams (in this case the Steelers) view our team. I said Panthers he responds Cam.... people outside of the Carolina's only see Cam when it comes to our team for better or worse.

    • Arguing about who had what and who did what with more is just going to end in the same charades. If we're going to waste a lot of hot air arguing then make it about something that cannot be denied. What you are seeing with your own two eyes. Cam Newton was a tremendously talented athlete albeit flawed in fundamental aspects. And although he played poorly in and lost a Super Bowl you cannot deny him that more often than not through his prime his teammates knew they could count on him to hold up his end of the bargain usually and be a key driving force for keeping them in games. Giving his defense much needed rest and motivation in wanting to match his grit as a competitor. That aspect is just not there with Bryce Young. Yeah he's dumped on the Falcons in a dome twice but what about his other 44 games? When has the Panthers defense the last three years ever looked at their starting quarterback and thought to themselves "man I'm so glad he's my QB"?
    • Rico walking is no big deal. I'll take a healthy 2024 Hubbard over Rico any time and losing Mays is, again, no a big deal.  Young is signed for what, $35M for the next two years? Say he wants $50M but the FO doesn't. If they put the franchise tag on him, that would be around $55? So basically they are getting Young for the next 3 years for an average of $30M per year. Putting the franchise tag on him wouldn't be my first choice but it gives them an option that wouldn't be locking him into a long term, $50M contract. I'm not suggestion they do that. Just that the option will be there should they get to that point. Hunt is on a 5 year deal which is done in 28 so he either restructures or is gone anyway. Moton will be 35 by then and will either be gone or have diminished playing time. Neither of those players has anything to do with getting Young a contract. The O line is way overpaid anyway. Hopefully by the time they are gone, Freeling and Hecht will be developed and Ickey will be healthy. Young was benched his second year and only got his job back because Dalton was injured. Not sure how you can call that entitled. And I would NOT say putting a rookie QB on a team with no receivers, tight ends or O lineman and then being put with a coach who never wanted you and is fired mid season, is a definition of luck. As far as competition, no team is going to bring in competition for a QB picked first overall - especially given the capital that was given up to get him.
