"Many players, frankly, share Alexander’s view, and see a certain hypocrisy in the league’s drug policy given the amount of pain killers and other medications made available to them. But the policy is the policy until it changes"

Hypocrisy is the perfect word. Makes me angry that it will take at least another 5-15 years before its no longer "policy is policy until it changes."

This isn't a debate on whether or not the NFL has the right to require the players to not use the plant. It's a debate on its legality in modern society. But as seen in your post the government has does a good job of brain washing you to believe 1) that it "impairs judgment substantially" which it doesn't and 2) that it's addictive. Which it's not.

1. Pot does indeed substantially impair judgement. That you would deny this demonstrates you are outright denying the negative effects of pot.

Attention, memory and learning are impaired among heavy marijuana users, even after users discontinued its use for at least 24 hours. Heavy marijuana use is associated with residual neuropsychological effects even after a day of supervised abstinence from the drug. Heavy users displayed significantly greater impairment than light users on attention/executive functions, as evidenced particularly by greater preservations on card sorting and reduced learning of word lists. These differences remained after controlling for potential confounding variables, such as estimated levels of premorbid cognitive functioning, and for use of alcohol and other substances in the two groups. However, the question remains open as to whether this impairment is due to a residue of drug in the brain, a withdrawal effect from the drug, or a frank neurotoxic effect of the drug. 2. Pot is indeed addictive. For one, logically speaking the only reason you would risk ruining your career to smoke something is if it is addictive.

"Yes. Over time, overstimulation of the endocannabinoid system by marijuana use can cause changes in the brain that lead to addiction, a condition in which a person cannot stop using a drug even though it interferes with many aspects of his or her life. It is estimated that 9 percent of people who use marijuana will become dependent on it.10,11 The number goes up to about 17 percent in those who start using young (in their teens) and to 25 to 50 percent among daily users.12,13 According to the 2013 NSDUH, marijuana accounted for 4.2 million of the estimated 6.9 million Americans dependent on or abusing illicit drugs.3 (http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/research-reports/marijuana/marijuana-addictive)

I'm fully supportive of legalizing marijuana. But it's outright moronic and unproductive to deny the actual facts.

How many people have died from its use? Anybody overdose? "I'm fully supportive of legalizing marijuana." Conversation is over right here. If you could read at all.
