If you have been following free agency today you will see Kembas contract looks more and more like a bargain by the hour...

Yup, I'm not the biggest Kemba fan but that deal looks like a steal for us right now.  Dragic is definitely better than Kemba but I don't think he's 6 million dollars per year better than Kemba.

Goran is a certifiable starter and a good one at that as PFR has pointed out. And at a loaded position, Kemba didnt really have the leverage and probably wanted the security of 48 million. Turns out, given his injury and performance, it was a good move on his part.

When you now stack his salary up against the starters of the league that will get their deals in the "new cap" era, I wonder if the front office envisions Kemba as a 6th man like Lou Williams and is simply addressing much more important needs on the roster before putting an emphasis on getting not just a backup, but a guy who could eventually be a full time starter.

That's not a knock against Kemba as I think he'd be much better in a 6th man role that would fit his playing style better, but his "new" contract and the fact that according to Andy Katz on draft night we at least inquired with the Nuggets about Mudiay suggest down the line point guard could be the next position group overhauled.

    • I'm salty every time I see someones mid picks become stars while we throw first and second rounders over and over and they all stink outside of Tet (who still has a lot to prove, imo)
    • There is a contingent that is total Bryce but they weathervane with the wind. When the good Bryce wind blows about once or twice a month we hear a lot from them. But they are always pro Bryce, they just don’t pipe up too much when he sucks. I can’t speak for them, as far as what they are looking at.    In a second contingent, the collective mind is made up. He has had had basically three years worth of starts that might include a top tier outing or two, a few second tier outings, offset by about the same number of bottom tier outings which actually may have the edge there.  The rest of his stuff is third tier and that is going to be the bulk of his starts. We want to move on. And we aren’t getting off of that hill until he puts us off of it. He has not.    There is a third contingent that has no conviction and definitely weather vanes. Bryce is good. Bryce isn’t good. Depending on the latest game. They will buy into 7 on 7 success so that should tell you something.
    • Nacua is really fuging good. He might be a better version of Cooper Kupp.
