Florida State dumps QB

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

It's the only shot I have! Probably can't outrun her, DEFINITELY not going clinch with her, kicking would be an even worse idea....miracle haymaker is the only legit option. She has a very untested chin as well, so it gives me that 0.1% chance.

Without getting too crazy here it depends on how much you weigh and how much training you have. I have a decent amount of training and I weigh about 185. That means I outweigh her by 50lbs. That is a metric poo ton when fighting. But I don't think I would stand much of a chance against her. But I wouldn't just write off all guys that aren't in the UFC as getting beat by her. But I'd say she could still beat up about 99% of the world. You're best shot is ground and pound I would think. Sure a haymaker is great but those have such a small chance of connecting. I think using your weight to your advantage and trying to just bludgeon her might be the best bet...but you better watch out for those arm bars because they will be coming if you leave an arm out there in a bad position.

EDIT: Depending on how good your boxing is that might be a good bet too. Most of her opponents are not that great at boxing. Combine that with a decent sprawl and you'd be doing ok. Her Judo is world class though, so any kind of clinch standing up will certainly end up with her in a dominant position. Use your jabs and straight punches...dance on the outside...you might do pretty well if you can keep your feet. We haven't really seen her chin or boxing defense. Man I would hate to fight her.

I'm 5-6, 165 so I have zero size advantage which means the ground game is essentially out for me. Stand up it has to be and that really revolves solely around the ability to remaining standing against a world class judo practitioner. Haymaker is really the only option, the way I see it. Training is extremely minimal, BTW.

At 185, I would definitely agree ground and pound is an option but you also have to considering that if you get it to the ground you are really in her world. The submission game will really swing that weight advantage back in her favor. At your size I would want it to stay on the feet too, unless you are confident have the strength to fight through an armbar. Most untrained or lightly trained guys that are bigger than her would probably be better served to keep it standing, IMO.

Mobil problem .

Can't seem to cancel out of a post. Anyways if that 225 was muscle and you knew how to fight you would stand a good chance. Size means a lot in fights. That's why weight classes are so important to legitimize fighting. At elite skill levels, man or woman doesn't matter I don't think. I would watch Rhonda take on a 135lb guy. She could win. But like was said...we've never really seen her chin.

She might be the most exciting fighter right now. Her and McGregor.

 Two words: ***** punt

Or just hire Cyborg so that RR can quit dodging her.

People trying to take the white knight approach on this situation seem to also ignore the very real racism involved in their stance. That's another topic for the tinderbox though.

She's not dodging Cyborg. Cyborg won't make the weight. She doesn't want to fight RR at 135 because that's an advantage to RR. We may have successfully derailed this thread.

It's been mentioned.

Does that make it okay to punch her in the face?

I lose most of my respect for her because she ducks Cyborg so much. She is scared of her, there is no question in my mind(and with good reason).

Plus, as good as she appears to be in the women's division, I don't think she would fare well against the men. It isn't skill or strength, it is class of opponent. The men's division at 135 is much, much, much deeper than the women's division at 135. Those guys face a much higher caliber of opponent on a nightly basis and that is a big edge, IMO.

No, she is ducking her. She said she would fight Mayweather(stupid and pointless) or Carano at higher weights but she won't for Cyborg? GTFO. At minimum it should be a catchweight at 140, which is reasonable for both.

Words are never an excuse for violence, IMO.

Like I said earlier, I don't think she ducks her. I think it's about weight. As for the depth of the weight class, you're absolutely right but I think she might do well against the bottom of the weight class. But certainly not against the the top. Speed and strength of those guys is phenomenal. I think a catch weight 140 is reasonable for her and cyborg. Hmmm maybe she is ducking her. That would disappoint me.

Rousey is definitely good but she is also a big media attraction, so the UFC has every reason in the world to protect her. Almost all of her opponents have had extremely low chances against her. We have still yet to see her against a very good striker (which Cyborg definitely is). I think as the women's MMA pool gets deeper and evolves more, Rousey will end up being surpassed by much more well rounded fighters.

And now an arrest warrant issued for Florida State's RB. Allegedly punched a 21yo female "multiple times in the face" last month outside of a bar.

Actually, reading about the accounts(if completely true) this guy should be doing some hard time. Harassing, pursuing and battering the woman. The poo they were supposedly saying too...Jesus. He pretty much did everything short of rape the girl and I am not sure that wouldn't have happened if the other girl didn't call the cops. Now this guy is truly a POS.

I read about that one. If those reports are accurate, he needs to be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
