Ranking the modern Marvel Movies

I swear to god, if you people don't stop with the "Ant-Man is a ripoff of Iron Man" crap, I'm going to lose it.

Hank Pym (aka Ant-Man, Giant Man, Goliath, etc) was introduced over a year before Iron Man.

Sure, the movie release makes it seem like a knockoff....but if anything is a knock off, Iron Man is technically a ripoff of Ant-Man. But he's not even really. Hank Pym and the Starks don't have a great relationship...hence Ant-Man's role/side in Civil War.

Jesus people. If you're gonna nerd, nerd correctly.

I'm not referring to the comics. I'm referring to the films. Ant Man followed the exact same model that Iron Man did, and to claim otherwise is shortsighted. Cross was basically Stone 2.0 for christ's sake.

Largely because, with superhero stories (comics or movies), the villain has to be connected to the hero in some way. If the hero uses a serum to make them powerful, the villain also has a serum. If the hero is a god, the villain is also a god. If the hero utilizes a technology to fight, the villain will also.

I don't think while they were making it, they were even subconsciously thinking "we'll follow the Iron Man model". I think it's just how the hero/villain dichotomy has to work.

This is why, as much as I love Marvel, DC does a better job with villains and mixing things up.

They absolutely wasted Sir Ben Kingsley's talents. The trailers looked so good too. Shame on Marvel for obliterating The Mandarin. I expect that from Fox, not from Marvel Studios themselves.

Loki is thee only villain Marvel has hit a home run with outside Magneto. Ronan and Whiplash came close but alas...

Spader as Ultron was a great choice. Overall execution was above average, but Loki is still far and away the best villain.

The Mandarin looked like he was going to be an incredible villain.

And then...

FYI, the "real" Mandarin is still out there...The problem with casting him is that historically he's kind of a caricature and Marvel really wants their movies shown in China. They only accept about 20 per year and it's a big market.

Still pissed.

    • He had games where he was a top 10 QB that week, vs Saints, Falcons, Eagles, Chiefs, Bucs.  Amazing performances that I think show what he can do consistently.
    • We both know there's more that goes into batted passes than just the height of the QB. Most people here have readily acknowledged this and there were numerous discussions about it before we drafted Young. But if you are presenting a POV that Bryce's height hasn't tied to issues with his footwork then there's nothing anyone is going to be able to say to sway you and you know this. Even beyond the footwork I recall a redzone play where Bryce couldn't see around his right tackle at all where a receiver was waiting practically alone in the end zone for a touchdown. There are real world circumstances that are going to show up over the course of the upcoming season and it's up to Bryce and Dave Canales to make adjustments and do anything they can to mitigate negative instances and yes that begins with Bryce's footwork again. Thanks for your time. Have a nice weekend.
    • I'm arguing that should those supposed deficiencies, like height or pocket footwork, be as consequential as you and others have claimed, then there would be a clear, observable impact in the data. That's not unreasonable. For example, batted passes are often used as a size-related concern (see: Baker Mayfield), yet Bryce ranked among the lowest in deflections at the line. If his stature is such a limitation, why isn't it showing up there? Or are you suggesting that's why his passing yards fall short of your expectations? If the latter, I would hope that you're not discounting yards left on the field due to drops (of which he led the league in).  Also, asking for specific, measurable benchmarks isn't aggression... it's accountability. If that feels uncomfortable, it might be worth reflecting on how much of your anti-Bryce argument is grounded in subjective perception rather than objective metrics. So, again: do you have any specific KPIs beyond total passing yardage, height, and weight that you consider relevant to evaluating whether a QB is top-10? If you want to add YPA and passing yards per game to those metrics, that's fair, just be clear about it. But let's not pretend that asking for clarity is some kind of provocation. I'm simply trying to understand the actual criteria... not just the vibes.
