Want to be optimistic? Holy hell, look at how easy our schedule is!

I try to help people understand that this team does not really separate their offensive production and their defensive philosophy. They play field position football where the offense and defense are following a procedure to produce a win.

I know most fans dont want to hear this but our brand of football is about getting the 'W' at the end of the day, it isnt about offensive stats.

We had 500 yards a game when Chud was our co-ordinator, yet we couldnt make the playoffs. Imagine a concept where 'stats' are not important, and where the only thing that matters is the W. That is how this team plays football.

I'm sorry if I am coming off as condescending, but I just have made up my mind that I am not going to explain this again. So I am getting it off of my chest. I hope some people will read it and will realize that we are doing fine.

This team has won 6 of its last 7 games. We do not suck by any means.

Coaches routinely say that stats are for losers.  In other words the only stat that matters at the end of the day is whether you lose or win not how you win or how many yards you have.

As you say, each week is its own matchup and as long as we win and hopefully stay healthy it doesnt matter how we do it.  If we look bad one week or good the next, that has little bearing on how we do in the future against our opponents.  Likewise dwelling on our mistakes or shortcoming particularly as fans has no bearing on what will happen next week.  Particularly when we are not playing the game and are only involved on the sidelines.

We play for wins not stat and whether we play for a long field goal or run when we "should" have passed is really irrelevant if we still win.  And for those people who say but it could have made a difference and might bite us in the butt one day, I say then lets wait until it does and then talk about it.  I might get hit by a beer truck driving home from work one day but it doesn't stop me from enjoying beer now.

what does any of that have to do with what I said? If they want to play ball control then they need to let cam control the ball instead of immediately going into field goal mode when we reach the 35

They didnt go into field goal mode they went into ball control mode.  They let Cam control the ball and the clock just like they did all day. Unless you were in the huddle how is anything you are saying more than just speculation with no facts to back you up?

They went into field goal mode.  Just like they always do when they hit the 35.

And you're speculating just as much.

I'm not seeing negativity.  I agree with you.  I hate this coaching staff for always taking the ball out of cams hands and settling for long field goals.  Gano never makes them anyways

Of course you dont see negativiity.  And I bet you dont think this post is negative either.  LOL.

One thing I've learned the older I get. It's way too much to factor into a nfl season to realistically predict a record. And the number 1 factor will always be injuries. Followed by team chemistry, you don't know when the hell a team will get it clicking. Just like we did last year.

The only way we can approach ANY game this season is to believe that our opponent is going to be a Super Bowl contender and plan and play accordingly. The next game is your biggest game. You have to execute every play. If you have that mentality, then every game IS winnable. It's just up to the players to go out and do the necessary things.

Our defense can stop any offense. I believe that. Norman can and will shut down anybody he is on. Our backers will stop the run and the short passing game. Pass rush is suspect, but the DL does good on runs.

Our offense has the talent to move the ball at will, even without KB. Running game needs to open up, but that will once our receivers force secondaries to play honest and not stack the box. Once we can spread teams out, good lord. Watch out.

All I'm thinking about right now is New Orleans, and I know that the coaches and players are on the same mindset.

    • I can't tell you what other's expect from him before they will start believing in him. I think for some, they will never be able to overcome his size. I think that is the fundemental problem for them which means they will never be happy with him behind center. For others, it seems he will have to be in the top 10% in pretty much every catagory and do that all seaon for them to start believing in him. Not everyone of course. There are people on this board that, while have doubts, can still acknowledge his good plays and are willing to give him another season. Those folks I would assume just want consistency - and wins. I could be off on all the above but that's kind of how I see it. And while you didn't ask, I will say I'm glad they picked up his 5th year option. He earned it. I do not think he should be signed to a long term contract yet. I do think he will develope in a franchise QB and will get the Panthers back into the playoffs and win them but I know I could be wrong. Next year will be the big test. If the offense continues to improve and they get back to the playoffs because of the offense, it will be time to sign him long term. If it's a repeat of this year, then it's time to look elsewhere for a QB. Like I said though, I believe he can be the guy so would be surprised if he doesn't make it.
    • Well since I am so biased, why don’t you tell us what he has to do to earn the trust of everyone that doubts him? If you say he has already done it, we really will never agree.
    • Also, do you think it a bit odd that the media has ignored it? Maybe they haven’t. But I am not aware of it being written or talked about.
