Anyone want to translate for the Twitter illiterate?

The website Pro Football Talk linked an article on their twitter account concerning whether or not the shortened practice limits due to the newest collective bargining agreement were playing a factor in the number of quarterback injuries this season. Derek Anderson, a quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, said that was a stupid thing.

I'm not sure what needs to be translated.

Well, that's what I read.  I didn't know if I was missing something.  Not all of us know all there is to know about social media.

One way to prevent injuries to QB's could be by flagging players for roughing regardless of the age of the QB...Nah, that sounds silly.

Hochulis excuse was bullshit, but not sure about the roughing call. QBs lose all of the protection of roughing the passer when they leave the pocket. It seemed pretty bang-bang to me.

But I also feel like the roughing call on 99 was bullshit. Looked like he just tripped or got pushed into Mccown.

But what do I know?

'Roughing the passer' smoothly and seamlessly transitions to 'unnecessary roughness' outside of the pocket, especially when the QB, or any other player in question, is out of bounds. I imagine Cam wasn't lobbying for a roughing the passer after being hit on the sideline.

And I also agree about KK.  Some awful, awful calls yesterday.

I don't believe he was out of bounds when the hit occurred. He was close though. We never really got a good look at it.

The officiating all year has been complete horse poo.

Florio may have a point, but it goes for every position, not just the quarterback.

But that burn by DA is straight FIRE.

To be honest I think Florio is actually correct and I'm guessing DA might not have read the article. His argument is that with reduced practice time the OL's which need alot more time than DL's to get chemistry are far behind where they should be and thus QB's are getting hit at a higher rate because the OL's just aren't as ready as the DL's.

It's also a college problem because lineman coming to the pros are far less prepared with the advent of spread offenses for the NFL than they have been in the past which is also a reason that they need more practice time.

The argument has nothing to do with practice time of the QB's.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
