So how did Tre do?

I still haven't watched the full game.  I listened on radio yesterday and looked at some highlights but won't be able to watch it all until tomorrow sometime.

I note Tre got a lot more snaps, and I'm wondering what the Huddle opinion is as to how he played?

Here's a brief comment about Tre's increased play from Panthers.com

DEFENSIVE BACKS ROTATE: Second-year safety

Tre Bostonicon-article-link.gif’s workload increased in Week 3 against New Orleans. He rotated into the game in place of Roman Harpericon-article-link.gif and finished with three tackles on 16 total snaps.

"We really feel that we have to work opportunities for Tre," Rivera explained. "Tre has a different skill set than both (Harper and Kurt Colemanicon-article-link.gif). Roman wasn’t benched. It was just part of a rotation. We were hoping to see it last week, but we got into the game and stayed with what was going on.

Harper isn’t the only veteran defensive back getting some rest on game day. The coaching staff is also trying not to overextend cornerback Charles Tillmanicon-article-link.gif, who at times was subbed out for Bene Benwikereicon-article-link.gif in the base defense.

"We have a couple veteran guys in the defensive backfield that we have to be smart with and find ways to give them a break earlier in the year," Rivera said. "We have to find ways to use Charles less. We rotated him out with Bene in the base defense.

"Hopefully, we can have those guys as fresh as possible."

I respect Harper having a roster spot, and much like a backup QB who can perform spot duty and provide leadership, not bad to have on team.  But the idea of him starting at this point is tough- He doesn't have anywhere close to enough speed to cover deep, and he seems quite disinterested in making several tackles yesterday.

Harper is an opportunist...if something comes his way, and I mean right at h, he's all over it, but if he has to track someone or charge the line to make a stop, he basically is worthless. Can't wait till Tre gets fully productive and coached-up.

I think an every down SS should be something sought after this next offseason.  We're in good enough shape to win games this year with the rotation but I'd love to get a Minter type again.  If we re-sign Norman and draft a stud safety, that would be great.

LOL....he doesnt want to overextend the older guys but makes sure we have plenty of them starting every year. The saints were going after those OLDER guys yesterday and they knew it, Rivera is just trying to keep them from being a liability unlike last year. This is gonna catch up to him eventually till we have another Cason situation again.
