Here's an excerpt.  The part of the article I haven't excerpted includes comments from Josh Norman about the comparison with Sherman

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It has been suggested that Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman is on his way to becoming the next Richard Sherman.

He may already be there.

He may already have passed Seattle’s two-time Pro Bowl corner who will be on the opposite sideline when the Panthers (4-0) face the Seahawks (2-3) on Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

Look at the numbers. Norman has an NFL-best four interceptions, two returned for touchdowns. He’s the No. 1-rated cornerback by Pro Football focus with an overall grade of 10.2. He’s also first in coverage with a grade of 10.9.

Sherman is tied for 87th overall with a grade of -0.2.

This changing of the guard didn’t begin this season. Since Week 5 last year, Norman has six interceptions, two returned for touchdowns, in 14 games. Sherman has four, none returned for touchdowns, in 18. Norman has 16 pass breakups. Sherman has five.

“In most seasons Sherman has been very good, but not great in YPA," ESPN analyst KC Joyner said. “His biggest asset, and why teams avoid him, is that he’s a ball hawk.

“Norman has been a shutdown corner from a YPA perspective. So when that is added to his ball-hawk ability, which is now on par with Sherman, it can be said that he has passed Sherman."

Norman has been targeted 35 times this season. He’s given up only 15 catches (42.9 percent) for 129 yards.

Sherman has been targeted 17 times. He’s given up 11 catches (64.7 percent) for 132 yards.

The biggest difference is that teams still are attacking Norman, although that may change if he continues to play like he has been.

The best QB in the NFL LITERALLY refused to throw at Sherman for an entire game last year. Sherman literally closed off a section of the field from the Packers gameplan.

Josh Norman ain't on that level yet.

and ain't no point talking about through 4 games....you don't compare players in 4 game windows IMO.  Too many examples of great and bad play occurring in windows that contradicts reality.  Norman is good trying to become great (and looks on his way)

Jones will barely be walking by december.

Norman has been this good since 2013, he just kept getting benched because he was freelancing on the field. Remember the buffalo game where the game winning TD was thrown to the open receiver? That was him leaving his zone. Watch everyone look at him immediately after the pass was thrown.

As much as we love his pick sixes, he's done it this year too, they've just worked. I love Josh, he's a stud, and I'm willing to accept he takes chances. We'll see how this board reacts when he gives up six the other way biting too hard. If I've noticed it, surely other teams have.

uh they're very likely going to do the same thing against Carolina.

there has been nothing to suggest the best QB in the NFL is gonna literally work just have a field vs us.

teams have paid the price for throwing at him....but he isn't lockdown which is why he is thrown at so much.  Opponents see too much opportunity with his style of play to date watching film on him

fan base is too eager to appoint him as All Pro.  He is slowly getting good.  Always had playmaking talent.   Pointing that out is something people spin as insult.  Better QBs will hit on some of the errors and overplaying he does

that is why teams throw so much at him.  b/c his gambles can lead to big plays.  They have all gone our way to date but law of averages will come into play eventually with that style.

that isn't a shutdown CB.  That is a playmaking CB.   Both are good to have....but a playmaking one is gonna be frustrating (which he generally is).

i dont acknowledge david newton or his opinion. while #24 has played extremely well, for the last 12 or so games, Sherman has done it for a few years now as the undisputed top corner. let's see what happens when we play a real qb, and i have been in the Norman support group since his rookie season.

CRA needs to stay out of the Norman conversations because he adds literally nothing at all to the discussion.

well at least he his argument has changed from "he will commit a penalty at some point so he isnt good enough" or however he tiresly phrased it and went ghost for a couple weeks when proved so wrong.
