Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson took care of ticket requests for what is being billed as his homecoming to Seattle in the fastest and most efficient way he knew how.

“I told everybody that asked for tickets it’s not free anymore; it’s not college," Carolina’s first-round pick from the University of Washington said as he prepared for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

“They just stopped asking me. I was just blunt about it. I told them straight up."

More than anything, Thompson won’t have to deal with the distraction of friends calling for tickets after telling them they aren’t free like they were when he played at Washington.

“Only my mom and brother are coming," he said with a laugh.

Translation:

"Tickets cost money, bros... buy your own damn tickets!"

lol  :))))

fuging moochers man

many a downfall has come by cleat-chased athletes. Hanger's on can hit the road. He earned his money and his time in the league is not predetermined and he may need those extra hundo's somewhere down the line.

besides, we're (panther fans,) his new family and will gladly play for our own tickets.

Shaq really seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a no-nonsense attitude and demeanor. I like that in the mindset of a line backer.

TD has never had any entourage outside of his teammates and to my knowledge, neither does Luke. It's all business for our LB corp and I hope it stays that way.

It's not like he's just now making money for the first time. He played minor league baseball briefly (and I'll enhance that it was brief) in the Red Sox organization and got paid well for it until people realized he couldn't hit. Should buy all the tickets imo

man, minor league players make like $1200.00 a month...that's hard to live on. Only highly-drafted players (like top 2-3 rounds,) get any signing bonuses and I think he was a late rounder.

If my college buddy was drafted by an NFL team and then that team came to play my local teams (SF, Oakland), I'd certainly buy my own tickets to support him and say hello. If I couldn't afford it if wish him the best and tell him I'll be watching him from home.

Smart man. Too many damn leeches in life and it's not just for high paid athletes. Like when half my buddies worked at McDonalds in high school and everyone thought that meant free fries everyday. GTFO with that poo.

    • They will be if they extend Young but I don't think we're there just yet. Morgan and Canales are tied and I don't believe Tepper is going to go look for a new front office for Bryce as things stand.
    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
