WK 8 Power Rankings

Unless ESPN is still being completely retarded, I suspect we will be 4th on every single one which I'm totally fine with. Patriots and Packers are the clear 1 and 2 at this point, Bengals have been winning with a bit more style than we have and the Broncos are barely squeaking by bad teams.

4. Carolina Panthers (6-0, LW: 5)

Kuechly ended up being credited with 11 tackles on Sunday night. It seemed like he had about 40. What a great player.

But the best part of this list ...................

16. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4, LW: 12)

The Eagles would run outside. Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis would beat everyone to the perimeter and shut it down. The Eagles would run outside. Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis would beat everyone to the perimeter and shut it down. The Eagles would run outside. Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis ... you get the point. Chip Kelly did not.

from the eagles site, apparently we still "haven't played anybody".

5) Carolina Panthers (LW: 5) - The Panthers are a perfect 6-0. They haven't had the toughest schedule, but they're still a very good team.

Ain't even played Bama yet, Pawl

my fave comment of all the lists....

CAROLINA PANTHERS

,

If Sunday night’s primetime victory against the Eagles didn’t do enough to convince you that Carolina is in the 2015 race for the long haul, nothing ever will. There might not be a team constructed as well as Carolina is right now. No, they don’t have an electric passing attack or flashy numbers. But, what they do have is plenty of heart, physicality and consistency. Ron Rivera has something special going on with his Panthers. It might just be the year that the underdog shocks the football world and brings a title back to Charlotte.

did not expect this from walter football;

#5panthersb_logo.gif Carolina Panthers (6-0) - Previously: #5 - I feel kind of stupid writing this, given that I picked the Eagles to cover - albeit for no units - but it's kind of crazy that the oddsmakers aren't respecting the Panthers at all. Carolina was favored a field goal, which meant that the sportsbooks considered them even with Philadelphia, since three points are customarily given to the host. And it's not like the house was adjusting for the public; most casual gamblers were on the Panthers. Despite being in a terrible spot, Carolina won by 11. This team is pretty damn good, though I guess its record indicates that.

ESPN can suck a fat one IMO ... Between their sh1t power rankings and our condescending azz reporter david newton .. I'd rather read what SI has to say when it comes to the panthers.. That's exactly why I enjoyed hearing what Cam said about the media .. Complete jokes

    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
    • It is due diligence at that point. Irresponsible not to take him.  Crossing my fingers on this one, he has everything you look for except experience.
