About that Newton vs Wilson debate

Cam has been really great for us, but his defense has bailed him out of some games too!  The debate will rage for their entire career so long as each remain productive and healthy, which is fine.  Think of how much wonderful debate, drama, and energy has come from the whole Brady/Manning debate.  I want it to stay Newton and someone else.  That's fine with me.

The Seahawks go the way of their defense.  Wilson is a very good QB in his own way, like his escabability/mobility.  But when the defense isn't stopping people, they haven't been as able to make those plays to win games.  I'm sure there are a ton of reasons, but this is the NFL.  Either you make them (like the Panthers have this season) or you don't (like the Seahawks).

Let's enjoy the debate, and hope that everyone wants to compare their QBs to Cam.  His shadow is pretty big, and it has a cape!

I would rather have Cam.  If I had to have Wilson instead, I would be pretty happy about that too.

Agreed, and that's the way I look at it as well.

If I'm picking one of the "young" QB's to build a team around, I would start with Cam, then either Dalton or Wilson...then possibly Bridgewater or Carr.

This board's obsession with comparing Cam to Wilson and Luck is lame.  We all know Cam is great.  Those other QBs are great too. And believe it or not, there have been times where they absolutely WERE playing better than Cam. This season thats definitely not the case though.  And yeah, it sure seems like the media is quicker to criticize Cam than the others, but some portion of that is almost certainly confirmation bias.  But no matter the reason, it doesn't matter.  It's just great to have a great young QB who will carry us to tons of victories over the next 8-10 years.  I don't care if Seahawks fans would rather have Wilson and Colts fans would rather have Luck, because they should love their QB the same way we love ours.   I believe ours is the best, but it would be ridiculous to expect them to believe it too unless the disparity we've seen this season persists for another 2 or 3.

Carr's already better than Dalton and Wilson in my opinion. He's a legit fuging QB. I thought Teddy would be the best out of that class but Carr is for real.

I'm just saying that there are a few young QB's out there that have a legit change of being really good NFL players...we just happen to have the one I would prefer, and I would assume the same thing is being said by Viking, Bengals, Raiders, and Seahawks fans everywhere.

I agree, I was just saying I'd probably rather have Carr than Wilson or Dalton. And despite Luck's play this year I'd rather have him over anybody not named Cam Newton. Whether Cam's the best or not, I don't care. I'd take him over anybody.

Still need to see him in the playoffs but this year's version of Andy Dalton is one of the best QB's in the NFL. I'd take him over Carr.

Dalton is good, but Cincy has the best offensive talent in NFL, and whoever is next is a distant second. That team is loaded. They have a good defense, too.

If he had Carolina or New England's offensive personnel I don't think he'd be very good at all.

Outside of Brady and Rodgers I don't think you can plug any other QB in the league into this offense and have the team sitting at 9-0.

Pittsburgh with a healthy Bell is definitely close and possibly better but that's a fair point. Dalton has always been solid even before his personnel was as good as it is now and it really hasn't changed at all from last year to this year so at least some of his improvement has to be attributable to him improving.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
