For those of us newer Panthers fans, it's great to learn more about the Panthers' stars of the past, and to know how Walls wishes Greg well in his quest to continue to set new records.

Walls & Olsen are both class acts and make me proud to be a fan.

I liked Wesley Walls before he was a Panther, just as I liked Olsen when he was a Bear. Still can't believe the Bears let him go for what amounts to a cheese sandwich.

Walls was my favorite player as a youngster, mostly because we share the name Wesley. All be it I believe it is his middle name, and now that I'm an adult I realize what a great TE he was, especially in that age

Greg Olsen was the guy I wanted in the 1st round that draft.  I threw a bit of a fit when we drafted Beason.  Funny how it all ended up working out in the end.

No matter Marty Hurney's reputation with Carolina fandom or within his (former) profession, he can always say these 3 things:

He drafted Cam Newton.

He drafted Luke Kuechly.

He robbed the Chicago Bears of Greg Olsen for a 3rd round pick.

Much like Olsen, Walls was a good ballplayer.  Did alot for our franchise in the early years.

Recognizing that does not take anything away from Gettleman's excellent work.

I view Hurney in retrospect like an aging power hitter in baseball. One that strikes out with maddening frequency and can't run the bases to save his ass. But those glorious home runs, they are spectacular!
