Should Panthers pursue Murray?

Day_One

We run Stewart, we keep Stewart on his current deal.

we draft a RB.

It isn't that hard.  In today's NFL Stewart isn't going on the first round.

We need a OL that can run block.  Then you don't have to have a 28 that is being utterly abused all year to have a run game.  Reason 28 isn't breaking runs is bc he bulldozes 3 defenders to get his 4

I honestly don't think we can afford to keep Stewart after this year. His cap hit next year is astronomical, so he will likely be a cap casualty (along with Charles Johnson and Jared Allen). For the same reason, I seriously doubt anyone would be willing to take him in a trade.

Of course, it is entirely possible that we cut him and then resign him to another deal.

I opened this thread because I was thinking Murray who.  I was wondering if there was some cornerback or de named Murray that we might pick up.

I don't know if Demarco Murray will be with the Eagles next year, but there is almost no chance he will be with the Panthers.  Our running back next year will either be Stewart, or one of the other guys we have on the roster, or we will draft someone and cut Stewart because of his cap hit.  It won't be Murray.

Do we really know how good Cameron Artis Payne is? He could be our future feature running back but who knows. I do wish they would let him get more playing time with JStew, even if stew still gets most of the carries could at least use Cameron Artis Payne to spell him along with Tolbert.

What its really going to come down to is how long Jonathan Stewart can keep running this well. Dwill is 32 and still doing great, but then again Stewart has a much more punishing running style so that could factor in to how long he lasts too. I say if we're lucky We'll have stewart do well for 4-6 more years and we'll gradually be phasing other young rbs into the mix until they start to outperform him.

Cameron Artis Payne is currently 25 he's not getting any younger. I really hope the panthers give him some damn playing time this year or at the very least next year.

Maybe they don't want to change the flow of the game since we've been stringing wins together with mainly stew and some tolbert.

CAP, Wegher both unproven. Still, no. Don't trust his injury history, nor his locker-room antics (especially all that whining, he knew what he was getting into).

Easier to draft an RB in the 3rd or 4th now, RB's have lost value.

It is surprising how undervalued RBs are in the draft compared to their impact on the success of a team.

While Ezekiel Elliot will probably be gone, I wouldn't be shocked if Derrick Henry slipped to our draft spot, and I wouldn't be upset if we pulled the trigger on that pick.
