Kurt Coleman

When I was at TC this summer the player that stood out the most to me was Kurt Coleman. First day I get there, early, I go line up at the fence to see if I can talk to some of the players or coaches or DG when they walk by or get some autographs. Don't remember the exact times so I'm making them up but the time spent is more or less accurate. Practice starts at 9:30, Coleman is out there at 8:30 walking by signing autographs for everybody at the fence. Then he's out there doing work for a half hour before any other player even arrives. After practice most players leave at the end to go to meetings, or whatever/wherever but there's a few out there still working. Guess who? It was like this every single day I was there. Always the very first one there working and among the last ones to stay after. Now tied for most interceptions in the league. Thank you Dave Gettleman and thank you Kurt Coleman. Really can't be talked about enough here and he deserves all the credit he gets and more. Have him locked up for next year but I'd like to see us extend him after the year if we have the money and can get a reasonable deal.

This guy is coming on at the perfect time.   Can he be beat..  Yes..  Is he on the level of elite..  Imo not quite..  But hes damn close and he is learning from some of the best in the business.

Offenses have to come in womdering where in the hell they are going to throw the ball.  Id like to see a very strong corner drafted after we adress the o line.   But i dont see it happening for a couple years.   Glad we have him locked up next year.

We all appreciate him, he doesn't get enough love on a national stand point. Does anyone know if he will make the probowl? Kurt we love you.

Last update a few days ago he was #1 vote getter at his position, and it was getting a lot of negative attention!  Folks were shocked he was leading over Honey Badger by something like 20,000 votes.  Getting a pick 6 on national TV and the most watched game of the year so far doesn't hurt!  It's not only us Panther fanatics stuffing the ballot boxes.  This guy is balling.

Josh norman if I am not mistaken was drafted in the 5th, and bene was drafted around there as well.  It is not out of the realm of possibility with G-mans eye for talent that we see another stout corner drafted.

A few comparisons with Mike Mitchell in this Carolina defense, but Coleman is a much better player. An arguable step down in athleticism and speed but better instincts, better discipline, and better ball skills as well. By far the best safety to grace a Carolina roster since Minter.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
