Cam's New Arm

Considering the level of play both from defenses and quarterbacks, we’ve seen passes thread through some tight windows in the NFL, but this video shows just how close this Cam Newton completed pass came to being deflected…what a beautiful throw.

No, this is wrong.  Jake had a big arm, especially after his surgery.

Not Cam Newton strength, but Jake had an arm and to say otherwise is just foolish.

Actually, I don't think you understand the real meaning when they call a QB a "gunslinger".  It really has nothing to do with the "big arm".  It is more about the mentality of the QB.  One that will sling it in there when the window is extremely tight....maybe when the percentages tell you that you should not try the pass.

Big Armed QB =/= Gunslinger

Also, you are VERY wrong on your assertion that Jake did not have a big arm.  He actually won the NFL's competition for the biggest arm and longest throw when he was here.

Cam made a throw last year during the Ravens game that made my jaw drop to the floor.  If I remember correctly (I wish I could provide video.  I believe Cotchery was on the receiving end), it was similar to yesterday in how it went by the defender'ss ear, only in the Ravens game the defender was guarding Cotchery.

    • It’s going to get wild after this Sunday.  I would assume Dave has a really smart plan.   Sorta like the AZ plan last year.    After a big turnover heavy  bad game Bryce normally reels it in.  Bryce will have one of his standard 60% for 200 days and the Bryce defenders will use that as a “ I told you he is good” games.
    • Bryce is a really smart kid and I'm sure he knows all the answers to the test but he hasn't been able to overcome his lack of physical tools and other DC's know this and play him accordingly. I think Bryce has good processing but when the correct read is the WR 30 to 40 yards down field and you have a defensive lineman coming at you what can he really do? He just doesn't have the arm to effectively and consistently hurt the defense and I think that's what's gonna do him in.  Pime example look at the INT versus Dallas last year when Thelien was wide open down the seam and Bryce threw it from a clean pocket and the ball was way short. Dc's watched that and knew that Bryce can't throw the ball deep.
    • I'd give Bryce until the trade deadline to prove he's the answer and if he's not I'm dumping him for whatever pick we can get and I'm riding with Dalton the rest of the way.  2 and a half years is enough time to determine if he can be the QB going forward so for Bryce he needs to come out over the next couple of weeks and show that. The other players in the locker room don't wanna waste another year of their careers waiting to see if you'll ever figure it out.  If you took a poll of the players in the locker room I'm sure they'd rather lose with a respected veteran Dalton who at least gives them some creditability versus losing with Bryce who the entire media will say was let down by his supporting cast when in reality it's Bryce's physical limitations that are holding this team back.
