+Rep for Bettis

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

I find it refreshing that there are FINALLY people in the national media that are starting to rip John Fox.

Yeah, even Berman and Jackson couldn't do it last night. A little for Jake, but none for Fox. But you can't blame the MSM, they don't pay attention to us to know what's really going on.

fox won't get fired.

his contract runs out after this season, doesn't it?

they just won't give him another one.

if he can bring this team back to the playoffs i'm cool with him staying another year or two.

if not...start looking for someone else.

Through 2010

So its all up on what we do this year

Rodney Harrison had no problem tearing us a new one on NBC's pregame. Things like "Playing like a rookie, a BAD rookie". But that was nothing compared to Fox's postgame- Showing Jake sitting in front of one of those mist fans and saying "Trying to pressure wash the stink off of Jake Delhomme".

Why don't we wait and see if Jake can bounce back against the Falcons. They are a good team but typically are a team that we can beat. If he struggles against the Falcons then it will be time to panic with the Boys coming up soon.

The bottom line is that Fox should know that if we don't make the playoffs it is on him. I think that the guy is a good coach but he has made some extremely questionable personel decisions in the last few months.

Their flat out denial of the need to groom a QB (a LEGITIMATE NFL QB) behind Jake is getting ridiculous. The guy is not Brett Favre, Tom Brady, or Peyton Manning. He should not get a pass just because the team wins games. IMO we win a lot of games despite Jake Delhomme, not because of him.

The failure of Fox/Hurney to have a legitimate backup to Delhome has been debated on this board for years. While they have "tried" it is the one huge area of failure for those two and could very well be their ultimate downfall. It is sad because they have otherwise drafted, signed, and traded for some good talent.

I was completely dumbfounded this offseason when there were no attempts to sign, or trade for a guy that could be the QB of the future and possible present should Delhomme suck ass. I trusted Fox/Hurney knew what they were doing, maybe even tried to trade for somebody but were unsuccessful or in their minds there was nobody worth trading for.

At this point if they think T.Jackson, or D.Anderson, or Quinn or some other guy can be gotten then why not trade a late round draft pick for one of them. Otherwise they better have a plan this offseason (assuming they are still around) to address the Panthers need for a legitamit QB to compete with Jake. Something they should have done this past offseason as the first post suggested and many of us were yapping for. I even was a Jake supporter and thought somebody should have been brought in. I still hold out hope for this season though. Just because I have to and its only week 1.

he knows bill cowher gonna take over for him so he gives away our first round and going to run this season down to the ground so we lose a first round draft pick. what a conspiracy im brewing. did i miss something else?

Someone needs to lose their job in Carolina. I was in Las Vegas for an event last weekend, and on Sunday I went to the best possible place to catch every game: a sportsbook. And of the nine games playing across those big screens early in the day, I couldn't keep my eye off of one thing: Jake Delhomme. I saw a quarterback who should not be starting on any NFL team. The way he's played his past two games -- five interceptions against the Cardinals in the playoffs; four yesterday against the Eagles -- I have to think this guy is just done. Toast. And if Jake Delhomme is done, John Fox is going to get fired.

Fox saw that playoff game last year firsthand. He had an entire offseason to evaluate his passers. And he didn't take the necessary steps to ensure the franchise's success down the line. Whether it was a free agent -- Matt Cassell, Sage Rosenfels, Michael Vick -- or even a rookie in the draft, he didn't demand a quarterback to challenge Delhomme.

Instead, the Panthers gave Delhomme a five-year contract extension, and now they don't have anyone else who can compete for the position. Fox went through the whole darn depth chart yesterday and didn't see a positive thing from anyone.

To me, that all goes on the coach. Coaches live and die by their quarterbacks, and Fox is riding Jake Delhomme to his grave. If he wants to save his job, he ought to be looking for options, whether it be a veteran who got released in the preseason or someone in a trade. Maybe it's time to call Minnesota about one of its backups.

Look at the Panthers' schedule. They have the Cowboys, Redskins and Buccaneers coming up: three losable games. If they go 0-4, I would fire John Fox. He's stuck with Jake Delhomme, who has repeatedly shown that he's not an elite quarterback. He's provided himself no alternatives. Without a huge turnaround, I think this is the end of the road for John Fox.

I did look at the Panther's schedule and they have the Falcons, Cowboys and Redskins coming up.

Firing John Fox after 4 games would be like benching Delhomme in the third quarter yesterday; the current alternatives probably wouldn't look much better.

Matt Cassel and Sage Rosenfels weren't free agents, they were traded. Cassel cost KC a second round pick and a 60 million dollar contract. Vick was a free agent, but isn't a quarterback.

I want everyone to know I'm not this guy, even though we have similar names.
