Remember, in 2011,when the world laughed at Bo Jackson?

After playing some ultimate teams on Madden, with Bo as my running back, I remembered the bold statements Bo Jackson said about Cam during his draft year, 2011. I also recalled how many I knew thought he had "taken too many shots to the head."

Jackson also says Newton compares favorably to some of the all-time great NFL players.

“When you speak of Cam Newton, I’ll put it to you just like this: He has the arm strength and power of Dan Marino and John Elway combined,” Jackson said. “He is quicker than Michael Vick, faster than Michael Vick. And he will run over you with the power of a Jerome Bettis, Bo Jackson, Earl Campbell. That’s the kind of guy he is.”

How spot on was he from the very beginning. We are lucky my friends: Cam will go down as one of the best players to ever play the game. Now go get us a Super Bowl Cam.

He isn't quicker and faster than Vick.  He's insanely quick and fast for his size, but not quicker and faster than Vick.  He's a much better QB though and honestly an even more effective runner than Vick due largely to the fact that defenses have to have a lot more respect for his ability to throw the ball.

As an Auburn alum, you don't know how much it pleases me to have Bo and Cam as Auburn legends and Heisman Trophy winnners.

Their statues are well earned.

It was bold in the quote. I didn't point it out.

What about everything except for the word "Vick."

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
