Did the Giants not listen to Gettlemen, regarding the Draft?

In last week's news conference, New York Giants GM Jerry Reese cut off a reporter who asserted that his mid-to-late-round draft picks weren't panning out as successfully as were those of other teams. Reese demanded to see some numbers. He should be careful what he wishes for.

Our man Mike Sando offered this number today in his Insider column on whether Washington should be favored to repeat as NFC East champions in 2016:

"The players the Giants drafted since Jerry Reese became GM in 2007 combined to play a league-low 10,767 offensive and defensive snaps in the NFL this season. Other teams' picks over the same span averaged 16,448 snaps per team, or about 53 percent more snaps than the Giants' selections."

i decided to hop on over to pro football reference and compare our roster with that of the Giants...

We have 24 players drafter by Carolina on our roster.  The Giants have 27 players drafter by the Giants on their roster.

Our draftees totaled 290 games this season, with 184 starts.  12.1 games/draftee, 7.7 starts.  The average AV of our drafted players was 6.9.

For the Giants, their draftees totaled 235 games this season, with 147 starts.  8.7 games/draftee, 5.4 starts.  The average AV of their draftees is 3.5.

If you look at only players currently on the 2015 roster who were drafted by each team since 2013, here are the 2015 stats in terms of games & starts:

Giants:  17 players, 155 games (9.1/draftee), 98 starts (5.8 per draftee), Avg AV 4.0

Panthers: 13 players, 165 games (12.7 per draftee), 83 starts (6.4 per draftee), Avg AV 4.6

McClain shouldn't count...

Yeah, I just noticed he's on the list.  And of course, players on the IR are on both lists.  But in any case, McClain WAS a Panthers draftee who is currently on our roster.  I just copied and pasted the rosters as is, deleting non-Panthers draftees.  It would be interesting to look at and compare Panthers UFDAs and Giants UFDAs too, but I don't have time for that today
