Let's assume the line plays well this week

In all seriousness, if the offensive line does a decent job opening holes for Williams and can protect Jake in the passing game, do you think that Delhomme will have a good game?

Assume the following:

- he's not playing from behind early,

- the running game works, and he's in a good amount of third and short situations,

- the game plan adjusts to what the defense is doing.

- he has time to scan the field and throw on passing downs. Not a ton, but enough for the average NFL QB to make a play.

If those things happen, do you think he will turn in a good game? Or do you really believe that he's done for good, and no amount of good play and coaching around him can save him?

I think Jake will be focused come Sunday and snap out of this funk he is in. I also fully expect to beat the Falcons and make all right in the universe.

If he doesn't, then I will just drink more heavily and throw things at the TV.....hope Dan does not mind me throwing things at his TV as I will be watching the game at Cheese Moz.

I think that he needs to, because there's clearly a "book" on Delhomme right now and if the Panthers can't overcome it as a team then he's done. I've never been accused of being a Jake hater, but it's pretty obvious to me that he can't handle a ton of early pressure. We need to game plan for that or we'll be seeing it all season.

I just hope that if we do stop it and get him settled down and in the flow of the game, he becomes the same QB who played at a high level last year for us, rather than the one we've seen for the past two games.

i watched the game last night on DVR to see what i missed in person. the line was very suspect, and I now don't place all the blame on Jake. blitz pickups from RB position were awful as well. if we get those two things back to par then Jake should do well. hell. he can't really do worse.

Good No,

He might have a decent game, but I don't think he has it to play a good game. Unless Atlanta just lays down and dies. It wasn't the line that threw up those wounded ducks on deep balls or the line that threw passes straight to eagle hands.

I really do hope the line and backs play well because that will be the tell... if Jake is OK or if he's screwed up in the head... if he gets good blocking and running and still screws up...

On the other hand, a good QB should be able to deal with pressure from the opposing D-line and not just throw the ball up for anyone (over and over and over)... speculating now is worthless we'll just have to see how this plays out...

He'll only throw three ints then lol

I don't care how much pressure you face, when you turn the ball over that many times as often as he's doing, means we really should reevaluate the qb position and see if we should stick with him as the season goes by

I was watching playbook last night and mayock said the first int was tipped, the second was a bad read, the third one he shouldve taken the sack, and the fourth one was underthrown.

Other qbs have been pressured worse than delhomme and still manage to not give the ball away that easy. So while the line can be at fault for not doing their job protecting him, it's still no excuse for giving the ball up to Philly like that.

I agree 100%. The line didn't play well but neither did Ben Rotlesburgers' against the Titans. Quarterbacks have to be able to "see" the blitz before he happens and adjust accordingly. On some of those third downs he should of hit an underneath guy and punted, instead he held onto the ball or just threw under enormous pressure (the int that was going to DeWill on the screen).

I understand that he was under enourmous pressure but how many of the INT's were the result of that, really? I know for a fact that he wasn't really pressured all that much when he threw the first one, in fact, I think someone at the line of scrimmage altered the pass. I also know for a fact that the one downfield to smith that got picked he had no pressure at all on that one, it was just a poor throw.

The turnovers that the pressure did cause were the fumble TD that he should have just went down, protected the ball, and took the sack. The other INT that was caused by pressure was the one I talked about earlier and again he should have just taken the sack or thrown it away earlier.

If anyone saw something different please tell me but if Jake could have beat the blitzes with hot routes and quick passes, or even checking out of certain plays then the Eagles wouldn't have done it as much. The offensive line didn't play wel but that had nothing to do with Jakes' horrible decision making and bad throws.

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
