First off goodson needs to protect the ball and not fumble to even have a chance to see the field the rest of the season. Secondly Faulk is one of the best backs in the league at blocking and then at the right time moving out into the flats for a dump off. It would be alot to ask a rookie to do this. The player really has to have a feel for the game for timing on when to realease from blocking and going out for a pass.

He's going to be on the field for kickoffs

Its not that he need to stop fumbling. He need to learn how to carry the ball. He carry it like a receiver more than a running back. He let it hang low. Just poor technique, and its disappointing this coaching staff hasn't even sorta fixed it yet

he can carry the ball however he wants, he needs to learn how to secure it before/when contact is made.

What? If you dont carry the ball the correct way, you're prone to fumbling

He doesn't carry it up by his rib and chest, he carry it by his waist

You cant judge when contact is going to be made. The game moves so fast, its boom. Carry the correct way from the start, wont be any problems

I think (as beastson stated) that the problem lies with how he is carrying the ball, less with how he secures it. The first fumble in the preseason speaks volumes, his arm was extended, he was gripping the ball pretty much just with his fingers and palm, and when he made contact with the ground, uh oh spaghettios.

It's a fixable problem, though. But it's not something you can fix mid-season. Remeber Tiki Barber didn't fix his fumbling problem until about 2003, and that just happened to coincide with when he became an elite runner. But that came after an entire offseason reinventing his running game. No matter if he was in a dead sprint, juking or plowing through someone, the ball was secured in three directions: his hand, his forearm and his chest. It can be fixed, but it needs a big investment of time and effort on Goodson's part.

If I had to choose a Fumble proned RB to plug into our O#, I'd take AP...

It's the playbook---> the system

We don't have many short routes, and we don't have a starting QB who is able to throw to his short routes with accuracy or to his safety valve when the pressure is coming. :(

samething can be said for Foster. Carolina never addressed the manner in which he carried the ball.....it was a glaring and obvious flaw.
