Heard on MN Radio this morning...

I'm in Minnesota (yes, it's #*&@# cold!) and was driving to the client site today listening to the radio.  The locals were discussing the playoffs, and whether the Vikings would have fared better against the Panthers in the playoffs than the Cardinals did.  They all agreed that they would (homers), but after a few minutes of talking about why one of them said, "but then again, we would have gotten clobbered too."  Everyone agreed.  They all think we're going to win, and that Cam is a monster who's almost impossible to defend.

I've been following this team since the beginning, and have been traveling for work most of my career.  This is the first time I can remember us getting so much respect outside the Carolinas, and it's a pretty damned good feeling.

Respect is earned and not given. Before the playoffs the Panthers received very little respect. Even though the Seahawks were the #6 seed more people picked them to win the Super Bowl because they already earned peoples respect due to winning a Super Bowl and playing in two straight.

Now that the Panthers knocked off the Seahawks and Cardinals they finally have EARNED respect. However, if they lose in the Super Bowl they will lose a lot of the respect earned. If you don't believe me ask a Bills fan how much respect fans give them for reaching and losing 4 Super Bowls. The Panthers must finish the job.

The Vikings were fortunate that the game was so cold. In warmer weather Seattle would have beaten them handily imo. GB will knock off the Vikings next season and they won't make the playoffs. We would have obliterated them, and their fans probably know that deep down.

Well, IMHO the Panthers lost a lot of respect losing just one. Matter of fact it has taken 12 years to get it back. No way we lose this one, its being served up on a big'ol forehead.

The Vikings have a good team.  Not sure Bridgewater is good enough to make them a legitimate SB contender.  Overall, though, their team is solid.  Teddy played one of the best games I've seen him play so far last year as a rookie against us.

I enjoy hearing stuff like that.  I travel a lot for work and we're so rarely any more than an afterthought anywhere but Charlotte.  Winning shines an awful lot of light on a team.

It's a bit of a layup question for the radio guys who were talking about it after the game has been played though, lol?  That conversation goes about like this:

  • "would the Vikings have done better?"
  • "I mean they couldn't have done WORSE right?"
