Neither are going anywhere.

I hope so, but we have a lot of people to pay soon, who may be more important than Star. We'll certainly have both through the 2017 season with Star's 5th year option but after that I'm not so sure. Lot of people to pay in the not too far away future.

It's easy to forget how much of a cap hell we are still in.

They've all played well, so it hasn't been a concern, but Davis, Kalil, Stewart and particularly CJ are all playing on contracts well above their market values thanks to Hurney.

One would assume that as that money comes off the books, it will go to the new core guys at reasonable prices.

IMO going forward the guys we will have to let go are the guys like Klein and (probably) Tre Boston. Star/Short are great together and should be considered part of the core.

Cam's and Luke's cap hits nearly double after this year and stay high. CJ's deal is the only big one that we can get rid of, and there will still be some dead money from that unless we get him to take a massive pay cut. Yeah some dead money will come off as well for Smitty, DeAngelo, Godfrey, but that doesn't add up to a whole lot. TD, Kalil and Stew all have completely reasonable deals for how essential they've been to our success.

We have needs all over the board on D:

1-Pass rushing DE

2-Safety- Coleman's only under contract one more year and Roman will retire with this Superbowl

3-CB- Peanut's retiring too

4-DT depth/grooming a possible replacement if poo hits the fan and we lose Star or god forbid KK
