The Panthers wouldn't be sniffing a Super Bowl at this point with anyone else but Gettleman.

I get the impression the writer thinks the Giants went with the wrong choice.

Didn't overtly say it, but if you read between the lines...

Yeah, and with good reason.

Panthers are at least a year ahead of schedule.

Should finally be out of cap hell this off season.

Then Gettleman can show what he is capable of without one hand tied behind his back.

How've the Giants been going with Jerry Reese?

We won out on this one in a big way.

One thing I will never give Dave a pass on is trying to convince us that Byron Bell had " left tackle" feet.

Honestly, what was he supposed to say? There's no way in hell that Gettleman actually thought Bell would be a quality LT, but there was pretty much nothing else he could do.

Giants won 2 Superbowl titles under Jerry Reese (2007, 2011). They had their time; got there value out of him.

They should have found a way to keep Gettleman, then got rid of Reese now when he possibly losing his Mojo (some Giants fans feel since Gettleman left, the team hasn't been the same). Even more of them (and some in the media) wishes Gettleman had stayed.

But Lucky (for Panthers, Panther fans) Acorsi felt a bit guilty, and JR hired him in Carolina.

Happy for JR, and Gettleman! It's almost like a story from the movies.

Now, go win it for them Panthers!

From the blog Giants 101:

Carolina Panthers GM Dave Gettleman was Integral to New York Giants Rise and Fall

Dave Gettleman, the New York Giants' Director of Pro Personnel from 1999-2012, is now the general manager of the NFC Champion Carolina Panthers. It is no coincidence that his exiting the Giants' organization in favor of the Panthers' has changed the fortunes of both franchises. Gettleman was a top personnel man who is credited with transforming the Giants into Super Bowl Champions. Now, he's working his magic in Charlotte where the 17-1 Panthers are one win away from a Super Bowl Championship

There's a picture with DG looking like a Pimp right after.
