Otah misses practice...

The observer is reporting that Otah missed practice today with a shoulder injury. This could be big news if he isn't able to go this week. It will be interesting to see if they trust Schwartz or if they will flip some guys around (ie Wharton LT, Bernadeau, LG Kalil, C Vincent RG, Gross RT). I'm not sure what side Abraham plays on but if Otah misses the game and Schwartz starts I'm almost positive Abraham will line up across from him.

Abraham moves around. He generally plays RDE, but we have moved him around very effectively the last two years. Both of his sacks this past week came from RDE against LT Jake Long (including one where he ran right over him to the QB). He'll probably line up at RDE at least 75% of the time he's in there.

It COULD be big news if he can't go? Surely you jest. It's huge if he's injured - partly because he's probably our best O-lineman and partly because he'd begin to acquire a rep as injury prone.

I agree but I think its more of a concern because of who might replace him. I really won't feel comfortable with Schwartz out there but I also don't want Otah playing unless he is ready. Wouldn't want the injury to get worse.

Why are people freaking out? He was held out of practice just like TD, Stewart, Beason and virtually every other player has been at some point this offseason/season. If its his shoulder he'll be good to go. I'd be more worried if it were his ankle or any part of the leg for that matter. These guys don't miss games for sore shoulders...

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
